I love making cards but I am starting to run out of new ideas as I have been doing it for a few years now. I love tea-bag paper folding but these are starting to look a bit samey. I love embroidery but it takes ages! I'd like to try Fimo but I'm not sure where to start. I love making cards to a theme - I made a Lush card, a Doctor Who card and a Man Utd card. It's better if the person it's for has a strong interest. But what techniques and styles do you use? I would appreciate any ideas.

Hi SaraJayne! Welcome to myLot!
I really love to do greeting cards but I do it more personalize by some software that I have in my computer usually I love to put pictures of the person I will send the card and mine to on it.
I have various means of editing and style that I really have to stay for a couple of minutes to finish a one card.
I was not good on manual making of cards I have poor handwriting and sometimes I cut not so good and that made me more attentive to do it on computer.
Enjoy posting.

Hi there,
I've been making cards for a while, now. Sometimes,it is really difficult to get the ideas, other times I can't make them up quick enough!
I tend to scour magazines for ideas; I always keep interesting gift tags and gift wrap, even envelopes!
It's handy to carry a little pad to sketch ideas in, if you can.
Also books and photographs are a great source of inspiration!
The main thing is.......enjoy!!!

Sometimes i sit there and have a rush of ideas come to me all at once, other time i sit and can only think of slight variations on designs i've already done. I tend to use lots of paper and card in my designs, in lots of different colours and shapes, with different layers snd textures etc. I've not really done any themes yet.
I'd be interested to know what tea-bag paper folding is, i've not heard of it before?

Tea-bag papers are little squares, each printed with the same design. They usually have different aspects of the design on each corner. You can fold them in various different ways, such as a square fold or a triangle fold or a rhombus fold. You then link 8 of them together to form a star shape. You keep the same part of the design visible so you have 4 different corners you could chose to show on your star, so the same design of square can be used to look different each time. They look really classy!
