How does someone develop an accent? I mean take this for example: A baby was born in the United Kingdom with two completely English parents and was raised there and grew up to develop an english accent, but what if the baby was born in the United Kingdom with the same parents but they moved to lets say Alabama because of a big job which would provide better for the family. Would the baby grow and have a southern accent or would he grow up to have an english accent? What do you think?

I do think it depends entirely on the individual u can pick up accent if u want ....accent can be acquired....moreover people acquire accent to be a part of a group...they dont want to be left out or be the odd one out.... Kids tend to pick up the accent of their parents...which changes as they grow up because they want to be a part of their peer group...

Indeed that is a sound explaination of one developing an accent and indeed envoirnment does play a vital role when it comes to developing your accent.

That totally depends upon the child's age. If he is young then he will definitely adopt the new accent but if he is old enough now like 13 or 14 years then he will get the idea of speaking the correct way. The more you are old the slower you learn.

True indeed a child learns very fast compared to an adult. Thanks for responding :)

The individuals above me are right and i would second what they've said! its all dependent on the child's age, children are very quick learners and develope accents quickly whereas when you are older you stick to what accent you have already.
