Did it start suddenly, or have you been noticing it for a while and it's now getting worse? If it's a sudden thing, I would say that it's stress, considering what you've been going through. You have been overwhelmed and worried for weeks now. If this is the case, things should begin to normalize now that your husband is back to work.
If it's been going on for a while and seems to be progressing, I would say that you should see a doctor. It could be hormonal (menopausal?), a thyroid disorder, or any number of other deficiencies/imbalances of vitamins or chemicals in the body. The doctor will probably start with an exam and some blood-work. Don't worry, just get the medical opinion if this is getting worse.

It has been there, but not as bad as lately. I cannot afford a doctor at this time. I'm on hormone therapy for 30 years and on anti depressents. It's really scary.

Will you have health insurance with your husband's new job?
Hopefully you will be able to see your doctor soon.
Have you cut down on your doses of antidepressants to save money? Some people do that during times of financial difficulties and they get rebound side effects like difficulty concentrating, loss of memory, dizziness, and headaches. I know that you have been under a lot of stress lately and that you have been doing a lot of work here on this forum. Maybe you're just tired out and need to take time to relax.

those Anti-depressants can do it too, my husband is on them, and sometimes I think that
is going crazy. he doesn't take the right medication, because he is Diabetic. and the meds could have something to do with it. I am begining to believe that.

Stress can cause forgetfullness. Also aging can cause it too. One of my favorite memories I have from working with the counselors at our local high school was a quote by one of the seniors. "It is not that I am too old to remember anything, it is that at my age I have collected too many things to remember it is hard to focus on any one in particular."

Yes and Im starting to get scared too. I dont know if its our age and this is what happens or maybe we are starting to get old timers. Oh geez I hope not. But in the last month I would say its becoming more frequent. Sometimes when Im talking to my husband I cant remember a name of something. So now what do we do? HELP!

I think my mind is getting forgetful too. I'm in my 30's and I work online and do all the planning and bills for my household plus keep things done up around here. I have so much to keep up with every day it isn't even funny. i lose track and have to write myslef notes so i can get to the important things every day. I always run out of energy or time each day to get to do everything I set out to do.

I don't mean to be a downer, but you might consider a visit to your doctor. There are a larger number of organic brain disorders that could cause the things you say are happening with you. It could be a simple imbalance in the chemicals in your brain that needs to be addressed. Putting it off will not help so get that checked out and go from there.
Good luck :)

I definitely feel that my mind is starting to be forgetful as it is a struggle to remember things now a days. Maybe it is due to me having health problems right now as well as my parents having health problems. Hopefully it is just the stress and worries that is making me forgetful. I think some people become forgetful as they get older.

Stress will do this to you. Also Alzheimers disease. I have not experienced it severely, but did have something like it when I was younger. I could not even talk in an intelligent manner to adults. Try to take better care of yourself. Worrying will not fix your problems, but will only make you old.

Margieanneart, it is probably a combination of alot of things. You have been under some major stress the last what 6 weeks. You said in one of your comments you take antidepressents. You know alot has been going on in my life too. I also have been forgetting words. Asking my husband something and then 2 hours later asking him again. Not rembering how to spell any more. I saw my phychiast (sp??) and he said this is from stress. Also from medications. I know you can't afford a doctor but when you can go see him right away but it is probably all the stuff you have been going through lately. Somedays I feel like I am not functioning, do you ever get that feeling? Take it easy when you get overwhelmed and know we are here for you.

I don't think you need to worry. It is very possible it's a result of the stress you have been under the past month or so. Stress does that to me it's as if my brain was subconsiously still trying to handle the problem.

There are days when I would forget my own head! Don't forget what you have been through recently. Most times folks can cope through the hard stuff, but it is after things have settled down when they finally feel the effects of the strain.
This could be you right now. Plus, my friend we are not getting any younger lol

Margie--
Did you have something horribly stressful happen to you last month....like a hubby losing a job? Am I remembering right?
If I am remembering the right person, I would say that it could be due to stress. I find that the more stressed I am, the less I can remember.
So, my advice, is don't let it stress you out!
I know, easier said than done. But really, take a warm bath, put your feet up, and watch your favorite movie or tv show and the stuff you wanted to remember will come flooding back!

Maybe you need to take a break from computers.
Your suar could be low if you are not eating right. I notice when I get up in the morning and if I haven't eaten I will get on the computer and I make alot of mistakes, after I go and eat I am much better.

With all the stress that you have been under it is no wonder that you might becoming a bit forgetful. Time to take a step back and do something a little different. I have been drinking soy milk so I am aware when I need a little more when my mind begins to go. When estrogen dips as in perimenopause which I am in it does play havoc. Good luck with this. Hopefully this will pass for you. Take care!!

Somewhat. If I don't use a name of number or word for a while, I can forget them. I am not worried about it. I think as you grow older, you have added much more info into your memory over the years and a lot of it doesn't get used very often. When you constantly refer to something, it is easier to recall it.
It might be a lack of concentration. It could be to many thoughts flowing through your mind and trying to pick out certain info is harder. I also think if the information is something you like, it is easier to remember and recall.

I have been doing this for the last 2 years. I of course make jokes about it and use humor as a coping mechanism but in reality it is quite frightning. I have to make lists in order to remember to do things. I have to write everything down lest I forget it...phone numbers, addresses etc. I teach college nursing and I will be in lecture and just forget a word. I can describe the word ...for instance, one day I was trying to say 'secretary' but the word would not come to me. I said, "person who sits in the front office and answers the phone, files papers and types." The students laughed and all shouted secretary for me...but it is really scary!
