I remember reading a discussion sometime ago were a member tried to encourage people to read mylots guidelines and follow them for there own sake.
Personally I still see a lot of members who break the rules and continue to do this even though they say they respect and appreciate mylot. Which leaves me wondering do you respect mylot's rules? also do you think others should start following them to help mylot?
I would say yes.
I've stopped tagging discussion which aren't my own unless the discussion isn't tagged and then i add tags which relate to the user to help them. I'm also trying to avoid breaking mylots rules to keep this place friendly and be seen hopefully as a respectable member =)
Your thoughs?
~Joey

Well for myself I try to follow the rules. I might goof up now and then but we are all human but normall I try to go by the guidelines. I think we all should so that mylot can continue to be a great place for us all to come to.
As for tagging I don't see that as a problem in doing, either for my own discussion or for ones I post to. After all the tags are what help the search engine find them. It allows for the similiar type discussions to be at the bottom of pages. So the tags help us find discussions we'd be interested in.

Any place where you want to belong deserves your respect. If I don't think I can follow the rules in mylot, i don't think I deserve to spend my time here.
I think following rules is very basic for any community to grow and the responsibility lies in the members themselves. If I think that this place is not worth my time, then I'd simply not log in instead of breaking its rules. I know most of the more mature members know this, hopefully this will inspire even those who are simply in here for quick cash to wisen up and grow as responsible members of the mylot community.

I am good at following rule, so for Mylot also I am following the rule as well. At least intentionaly I will never break any rule.
I wonder why some people just never learn, they will do the same thing again and again. If somebody is helping them remember also that does not make sense for them. I think that kind of people has no respect for rule and for themself also. They just like to get "-" rating.

I try my best to follow the mylot guidelines. I think their a some people in here who don't completely understand the rules. I find it completely annoying because they make it a point to leave a comment that someone is breaking the rules. The truth of the matter, the rules are not being broken! If they were, they would have been deleted.

I try to follow the rules. I am also happy to be corrected if I do mess up and break them. I wouldn't do so intentionally; that's for sure!

Joey I don't understand, aren't we supposed to tag a discussion even when it is not ours? Or why does it come up. I try to be respectful etc but to say I remember my lot rules, not really.

Hi Carol,
We can tag discussions. say there's one about "your favourite holiday destination" and someone tags it with lets say (cheeseburger, football, trashcan, rubbish discussion) for example.

Yes I do respect rules, if it's on myLot or anywhere else. Rules are meant to be kept and not broken. Ya ya I sound like a goodie goodie, but on such sites especially it makes sense to follow them. There is a reason they are there in the first place. I feel so annoyed when I see rule violators here, and to top it all they have the nerve to accuse us of breaking rules! Heavens, that takes the cake and makes my blood boil. Just yesterday I started a discussion telling people adding referral links in discussions is not allowed on myLot, few users were cheeky and told me I was breaking the rule by promoting the myLot FAQ. Aaargh, I swear I would have hit the person were I in front of them! why don't people read before they respond. They have no respect for the rules nor do they appreciate the ones who do. It is simply frustrating!

it's better to follow the rules and regulations of mylot for us to know their guidelines and before joining mylot, people should first read the rules...awareness of the rule is the best...and you should respect mylot rules...

I've been there Joey. I may have posted discussions related to others but I made sure I created my own words and ideas to put up a discussion. I usually tagged my dicussion based on what it was about. Since the mylot rules are too many to memorize, I printed everything and placed it beside my computer. Happy posting!!!

I try to respect mylot rules as much as I can.I am fairly new to mylot and sometimes i will break a rule I remember after I broke it or a friend will gently remind me.There are people here that have been here for awhile that shuold know better but continue to break the rules.I guess they think they are better than us and that the rules dont apply to them.

hi 66jerseygirl. 6 months ago when i was just starting here in mylot, i had broken lots of rules. i never gave time to read the guidelines before. but later on, i realized that it's not right. so, i always try to get back to the rules every now and then to remind myself.
there are discussions here and responses which obviously are against the rules. since i am an old member, i try to reach out to them and try to remind them about things they have crossed and forgot. and most of them are thankful. it's better if we remind each other since all of us are friends here.

Hi, I am new to mylot and I appreciate reading this discussion. I have been tagging discussions I respond to (always related to the topic) because after reading the FAQ, I was under the impression that was a good thing to do. I just went back and reread the FAQ and I realize that I misunderstood. I thought I was just tagging my response, I didn't realize I was adding tags to the original posters post.
Is the general consesus that one shouldn't add tags if the original poster has already tagged the discussion? When I add tags to a discussion, they often relate to my response which may not be mentioned in the orginal post but they are always related to the discussion. I would like to know what is best to do. Thanks!
I do want to respect the community and follow the rules. If I'm not following the rules it is because I have either misunderstood them or forgotten them.

even outside the world of mylot (meaning, even in real world), i do follow rules and guidelines. i don't see myself as a total freak about laws since it goes through my veins since i had practiced following rules even when i was still a kid. more or less, this had been a habit of mine.
i admit, even if i go through mylot rules every now and then, there are little rules i seem to forget to follow. and i feel bad and a bit guilty whenever i break even the small rules. so, i get back to the guidelines set by mylot and try to get back in line.
rules are difficult to memorize. there's no need to actually. the moment i checked the "i agree to the terms" page upon signing up in here, i really mean it. laws are laws and rules are rules. we are just members here and we are supposed to follow. it one does not like the rules set, they better pack their bags. or try to voice out their anger or disagreements to the moderators directly. this way, everything will be smooth.
i hope this site remains to be a healthy place for all of us to enjoy!

yea i respect mylot rules. i can't remember all the rules but i try not to break the obvious rules like spamming and negative posts. i do think others should start following mylot rules. it would make mylot a much better place. less commotion and agruments.
