I understand that there is alot of animosity towards the Taliban for their attacks around the world, but why do people include all of the Islamic community in these horrific acts. I am an american muslim by choice, and so are many of my friends. I was born and raised here in america and am about as white as they come. My husband does not belive in beating his wife. We dont threaten to cut off our childrens hands if they sneak some cake out of the fridge. We are not extremest left wing Muslims. But why do I get rocks thrown thru my windows? Why dose one of my friends get beer bottles thrown at her on her way to work? Why do so many people seem to hate anyone having to do anything with the Islamic religion because of some zelots that kill, which by the way is a one way ticket to hell no exceptions. It just dosent make any sense to me this is not the first war ever started in the name of religion. And I am quite sure that it wont be the last. But do all Catholics hate Prodistants and vise virsa the world around because of the killings in Irerland? There are so many other killings done in the name of religion, so once again why all the hate agains all of Islam?

First of all I'd like to say that generalization is wrong...and it's wrong to blame islam for the acts of fundementalists.
BUT I also think that a stronger message needs to come outside from within...and media plays a big role in this too. It's not the fault of an outsider when he sees some happy muslims coz they beheaded an american...and that he thinks omg they are brutal and he'll have a misconception towards the religion and its followers.
to solve this problem...every moderate muslim family needs to educate their children the proper Islam. Islam doesn't justify killing of innocent and "Jihad" is always taken outside the context in these matters.
Jihad is the innerstruggle of a person...a man must rage a war within him and purge his "dirty" thoughts and clear his mind, it doesn't mean that ppl should start killing others.
Media can be a great tool to solve this problem...but educating youngsters and tell them the real meaning of islam will solve the big issue.
If the nonmuslims see these things, they'll understand and help...and the muslims mustn't think that why they should take the first step, coz with that mindset they won't achieve anything. Taking the first step would be another step closer to understanding and coexisting together in this multicultural society.

I competly agree with this. Not once in all of the new publications have I seen or heard that this is not the way of the Islamic teachings. All I have heard is the negative. I teach me children understanding, tolerance, and love (for all) to the best of my ability.

well its def the right thing to do...
the fundementalists use the lack of knowledge of the youngsters and try to press their own agenda through them. I think every moderate muslim should realize this...that there's a problem and to solve this issue we all (muslims and non-muslims) should join our hands (forces) and eradicate this cancer from our society.
Violence never solved a problem in the past and it will never solve one in the future.
