I am a 25 yr old female. I sterted having seizures at age 17 for no apparent reason. I still get one every 2-5 months. It has prevented me from doing a lot of normal things like driving and living by myself. Does anyone have this problem?

Have you been diagnosed with epilepsy. I always used to faint as a chiold and when i was 14 it developed into seizures. They have all the characteristics of comples-partial but all brain scans, heart scans, blood tests have come back clear. I havent had them in about a year which is just amazing for me because it means i might be able to drive in the next year or so but i always thought it aws weird that i never got diagnosed with anything. i landed up in hospital alot and would often take 2 a week when i was having alot and sometimes just one a month. its a terrible thing to go through and as you probably know can put your life on hold and its hard explaining it to people. so is your epilepsy or are you the same as me?

i dont think i was never diagnosed either. When I first started having the problem, my doctor at the time who knew nothing said I fainted. Fainting does not require one to pass out completley start shaking and go unconcious. When they started happening more often, I went to a different doctor and he diagnosed me with Grand-Mal seizures. They are the type where you pass out completlely and it takes a while to even know where you are or what your own name is. I have had probably every test possible and they have all come out normal. I always have had a seizure in the morning about 5 minutes after getting out of bed, so i always think that there has to be some reason for it. I am also underweight which could be part of the problem. Do yours come at any certain time of the day? Lately I have been going to the health food store near me, and after telling him my story and the guy there suggested that I do a whole body cleanse. I am starting that on monday. Im not certain that will work because I have tried everything to cure this even though doctors say there is no cure. But some say that unless you ave had them since you were born then it is possible to gt rid of them. I'll try anything to get rid of this. I recently moved in with my boyfriend. He was making enough money for the both of us so I didn't have to work but latley we have been having problems and I really need to get a job. The thing is, I cant find a place that will accept me with my problem. I have to tell them on an interview about my seizure problem just in case I had one on the job. As soon as I mention the whole thing, the interviewer kind of jut cuts it off right there and says they will call me. Of course that was about 10 interviews ago. Also, If I did get a job, I wouldn't have a way to get there because of the not being able to drive issue. I have neevr known anyone who didn't drive because of their seizures. They take the risk even though it is so dangerous to yourself and others. Do you have a problem being able to get a job or do you have one?

Yeah mine sound just the same but i was diagnosed with a lesser sezure than you. althoguh sometime i can lose hours befotre i know whats going on. i used to get mine on the way to work. i would get up, get ready, go get on the bus and then i would collapse adn fit or if i was in the shower. im not allowed to lock the bathroom door when im ini a shower. this sounds mad but i think mine is all heat related. if im too hot and i havent eaten properly and i think thats how ive got mine under control now. to be honest about jobs, whenever i go for interviews i dont tell them because i tell them after a few weeks and if they sack me i can get them done for unfair dismissal. i am in the uk. you should add me and message me about this cos i think it would be good for us to chat more. mine have definately been left undiagnosed and i have stoppped seeking doctors for help as i have given up. i havent had one in a year and i think that is due to precautionary measurs i take. i eat regulary, sleep regular, try and avoid public transport and i dont drink so much.

I added you but im not sure if i did it right. Im very new to this. Someone told me i could make money with this. I made 6 cents so far yay! haha At this point making money isn't the issue. Im just glad i found a person i can talk to and relate to on here. Anyway, you never told me how old you are. Im 24 if i didn't already say it. Your problem does sound a lot like mine. People are always telling me that i dont eat right and stuff. Its mostly because im rarely hungry enough to eat a big meal. I wish i could gain about 10 pounds though. Its the same for me not being allowed to lock the bathroom door when i take a shower. Well thast what my mom tells me when im at home. This past december was when i had my last seizure. It was the first one my boyfriend ever saw me have. I was pretty embarrassed about it. It happened just because I got out of bed too quickly and I fell backwards while getting dressed. Thats how a lot of mine are. Then for the rest of the day i feel so sick taht I feel like im dying. I also suffer from a lot of bad headaches so i wonder if that has anythign to do with it. There are more days where i dont feel good then when i do. Thats a god idea to not tell the place about your problem until after you get the job. I tried that once when working for a restauant. And on my second day I was supposed to work I had a seizure before getting there, so there was no way i was going to work that day. I had to call to tell them i coulnd't be there and the boss didn't believe me and said that if i had this problem i should have been up front about it. So that job didn't last too much longer. It was because i quit though because the boss was telling other employees about my problem which def is not right. I have also given up on doctors. Have you been on medication at all? I have been put on 4-5 different ones since i first had my problem. The first one was depakote and i thought it was actually working until I got more seizures adn then the medicine was switched to somehtign else called lamictal. That was the worst thing. It made my entire body ache an all i could do was lay around and do nothig without being in pain. The last one i remember taking was topomax. I didn't get any side effects from it but it made me get more seizures. Instead of getting them once every few months, i would get 2 a week. So i have decided to not use medication at all whcih has been better for me. Thats great that you haven't had one in almost a year. The longest I have gone is 8 months without one. Then just when i start to get my hopes up, i get one the next morning. So good luck and i hope you will be able to drive soon. Have you ever had your liscence yet? I haven't bc mine started at 17 and thats the age your allowed to start driving. well im gonna go now, add me if it didn't work when i did. If you want to know more about me visit www.myspace.com/sdw4382 have a great day! hope to hear from you soon sara
