Negative People - Do they frustrate you as much as they do me?

I try my best everyday to wake up and be positive. If I find myself feeling crabby I remind myself of the good things in my life. Granted I have bad days, but those days I try to keep to myself so as not to "infect" others with my attitude issues. I just feel like we are becoming a society of negative people. People complain all the time and dont really seem to enjoy the little things anymore. Am I wrong? Am I just seeing a small number of people? How do you feel about negative attitudes and how do you react to them?

I think that many times people are being accused of being negative when they are actually being realitstic. Unbridled optimism lead to too many problems going unaddressed and, therefore, unresolved.
One of my issues in this area is exchanging the word "problem" for the word "challenge". It is usually a very sly way of allowing a solvable problem to remain. People complain because "challenges" are eating away at their quality of life. Their being realitistic is the first step toward ending optimistic complacency.

I have to disagree. I feel like the negative people find problems, complain about them and then think well its not my job to fix it, or why should i care? As a optimist myself I am always trying my best to find solutions for whatever issues and problems I see. I do not make light of anything at all because I try to see it in a positive light and I really dont think other optimistic people would either. Being realistic is one thing, being complacent is quite another and I do not think (in my unbridled opitimism) that the two could possibly go together at all. Thank you so much for your great response! Have a great weekend!

I just responded to another post about negativity and the same goes here. I find myself becomming more and more distant from people in general because of all the negativity they spew. I really try hard to see the silver lining in all situations and I have been having a much tougher time allowing myself to be taken in by their issues. Not saying I don't care for people but I'm really tired of trying to convince them that they are the only ones responsible for how they feel and how they percieve a specific "challenge" (to quote a prev post) I make the decision to be positive and take as much good from every situation that I am involved in as I possibly can. All I can say is that if more people were to adopt this attitude we would have a much better planet to live on!

No,you're right.I deal with it everyday and yes it's very depressing.I don't know if it's job pressure, family,or what but there are a lot of miserable people out there.Me,I learned to scrape the bad things off and always think positive.I always try to cheer people up.Sometimes it works sometimes not,but at least I've tried.
