According to the controversial book The Holy Blood and The Holy Grail, there is evidence that Jesus married one of his disciples, Mary Magdalene. They even had children. Descendants from them are now living in southern France. Mary Magdalene did exist in New Testament. An early Christian writer Hippolytus pointed out that Mary Magdalene and Mary of Bethany are the same person. She was the woman sinner who put ointment on Jesus's feet and wiped them with her long hair. Some scholars say that she was one of the women ministered to Jesus. And she is one of the few who witnessed Jesus's resurrection. Nowadays, the Roman Catholic, Eastern Orthodox and Anglican churches considered her to be a saint. July 22 each year is the date for those churches to commemorate this lady. In fact, I don't find any text in the Bible mentioned Jesus's Marriage. Is it possible that He and Mary Magdalene got married before his crucifixion?

do you believe anything in a book readily without investigation??? if anyone does, it is an insult to the human intelligence-reducing our own to the level of the brutes. before you believe anything, try to investigate the credibility of the writers? I COULD WRITE ABOUT ANYTHING AND MIX HALF TRUTH AND HALF LIES AND CALL IT TRUTH, GET A COPYRIGHT AND SELL IT.. SEE??? BUT WHAT IS ONE'S BACKGROUND TO MAKE SUCH CLAIMS??? I MADE MY OWN RESEARCH ON SOME RELIGIOUS ISSUES TOO--LIKE I EVEN REACHED TO THE POINT OF QUESTIONING THE CREDIBILITY OF THE BIBLE AS AN ABSOLUTE HISTORICAL ACCOUNT...WHAT I FOUND OUT??? THE BIBLE LACKS MANY IMPORTANT DOCUMENT MENTIONED INTHE BOOK OF NUMBERS-SUCH AS THE BOOK OF WARS OF THE LORD, THE BOOK OF THE COVENANT, WHICH ARE ESSENTIAL TOTHE JEWISH AND CHRISTIAN FAITH...AND I HAVE DISCOVERED FURTHER THAT THE BIBLE FAILED TO INCLUDE 1OO PLUS IMPORTANT DOCUMENTS THAT ARE NOW CONSIDERED LOST OF HIDDEN. AS TO YOUR ISSUE, TRY TO DELVE INTO YOUR SOURCE... ARE THE WRITERS CREDIBLE TO SAY SUCH CLAIMS...

really i think before you can disprove anything one needs to consider a text offering alternative explanation. what is projected in "the Davinci code" is contradicted by the the bible but the bible itself when put under a microscope has little if any credibility regarding its writing and compilation hence it is not in position to render alternative positions about the life of jesus christ null. there's is every possibility that jesus christ was married to mary magdalene

If you think about it from the Biblical point of view it is quite possible since Yashua himself said "I did not come to abolish the law but rather to fulfill it." and one of the laws of the old testament is Genesis 2:22-24 "22And the rib, which the LORD God had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man. 23And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man. 24Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh. " Pay special attention to verse 24 "a man leave his father and mother and shall cleave onto his wife" It was never meant for man to be alone and that was why woman was removed from him and in order for man to be COMPLETE he would have to regain that part by having a wife to complete him. To say that Yashua did not have a wife would be to say that he was not a complete man but according to Christian view he was both perfect man and perfect god so logically he would have had to had a wife, not to mention the great dictation for the Almighty himself, "be fruitful and multiply" Well I hope this has been of a little help to you. Have a great day today and a wonderful tomorrow!!

Yes I do know where the name Yashua comes from it is the Hebrew name for Jesus being YAH which is the beginning of the tetragrammaton YHVH (By combining the vowel signs of Adonay and Elohim with the four consonants of the Tetragrammaton) and SHUA which means SAVES. Thus the statement of Yashua of "I come in my Father's name" to save the world would put the name of Yahshua as a much better name than the Jesus name as YHVH SAVES through the completion of the Law thus... Yashua!! Now lets take a look at 1Corenthians 2-3 " to avoid fornication, let every man have his own wife, and let every woman have her own husband. 3Let the husband render unto the wife due benevolence: and likewise also the wife unto the husband." Ephesians 5 30-32 "30For we are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones. 31For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh. 32This is a great mystery: but I speak concerning Christ and the church." Mark 10:5-9 (Yashua's oen words) "5And Jesus answered and said unto them, For the hardness of your heart he wrote you this precept. 6But from the beginning of the creation God made them male and female. 7For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and cleave to his wife; 8And they twain shall be one flesh: so then they are no more twain, but one flesh. 9What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder. " Matthew 19:4-6 (Yashua again) "4And he answered and said unto them, Have ye not read, that he which made them at the beginning made them male and female, 5And said, For this cause shall a man leave father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife: and they twain shall be one flesh? 6Wherefore they are no more twain, but one flesh. What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder." Yashua also spoke about eunuchs for the sake of the Kindom of Heaven but not once has said that he had not a wife neither has he said that he did therefore IT IS A POSSIBILITY. How could he have had the total human experience if he had not a wife? If he were never marries he would have not been complete as the Father created man since his female counterpart would be non existant. He was to have experienced all with NO SIN. He could not have experienced all if he was not married. If he was never married he has NO GROUNDS to speak on marriage that he NEVER EXPERIENCED. That would be like going to a marriage counselor that has been divorced 100 times, obvously he does not know what he is talking about. He would not have had the complete human exerience only the complete God experience therefore he knows NOT what a married couple goes through since HE NEVER EXPERIENCED IT. So never go to him with your marriage troubles since it will fall on deaf ears as he knows not what you are experiencing!! I am not saying that he WAS or WAS NOT married nor am I saying he was definately married to Mary only that it is a POSSIBILITY. Anyways I have spent far too long on this so I will close with a HAVE A GREAT DAY!!!

Yeah, by reading the verses you put here, I realize that it is possible that Jesus did marry someone and Marry Magdalene may be the one who happened to his wife. Thanks and have a nice day too.

Jesus and Mary were indeed wedded. This was not uncommon no matter who the church says he is. You took a wife and bore children. It was simply a matter of survival. Jesus was a man of great visions but was still a mortal man. He likely wed Mary before his rise from anonymity. First let me tell you about the Bible. This is a book with many books each with many stories. The Bible is not meant to be read verbatim. The Bible is a series of symbolic allegories. These are stories that have duel or hidden meanings. The key is to decipher there true nature. I'll stay on topic. Take for instance the story of Jesus' resurrection. That didn't literally happen. What was resurrected was his teachings by his wife Mary and several of his followers (we call Apostles). That was the creation of Christianity. The Roman Catholic Church stole the idea of Christianity and bastardized it to their way of thinking and rewrote, added to & removed from the Bible. There are close to two dozen omitted books of the Bible. One of great importance is the Book of Jashar. This book pertains to the world before Genesis. This is why you see the Vatican can change it's mind at will when making decisions about the Catholic religion's practices and beliefs. The religions you mentioned amongst other condemned her for centuries before abruptly changing their minds. No one really knows what made them Saint her. It is believed that documents (omitted books) have been either discovered, stolen or acquired outside the church. It is much more complex than this alone but that's the gist of it.

So the stories behind this controversial subject is very complicated. There is nothing wrong even if Jesus did married. The Catholic church is the sources of many problems behind the religion. Thank you for the information.

No problem smkwan2007. Thanks for the vote. You want to know something else? The Catholic Church (Vatican) is now looked upon by many as a very powerful and dangerous GOVERNMENT. Not religion anymore but a corrupt GOVERNMENT. I don't say this in bias. I simply state facts that I've heard, come across, learned or have researched. The library used to be the best place to go for information and answers but nowadays the internet is catching up very quickly. We have the world at our fingertips. ‹(°¿°)›

If you read the first page of the book the writer has written there that the story is fictional and this means that whatever is in th book is his imagination altogether. But yeah there has been alot of opposition of him by the christians and it is rumoured that he put the word fictional in only after he realize dthe strength of the opposition

When I was a boy, we used to go to family reunions up in east Texas. We had a cousin that was a family geneology researcher. This was on my mother's side. He had went to Europe and did family research. He said that we were descended from the Merovingians and from Mary Magdalene and Jesus. Could this be true? I do not know.

Well, as you said, it is a controversial book. I don't think there is anything to it for several reason, but I'll list a few. 1) If Jesus was married, it should have been mentioned in the Gospels for a few reasons. A) Jesus was all about relationships. b)The marraige would have held theological meaning for the family unit. 2) even if the gospels did not mention it to keeps it hidden, which would be a deception on the generations to come, which would equate the Bible close to being an untruth, the Gnostic books SHOULD have mentioned His marraige since their goal was to demystify and bring Jesus down from the throne of Diety. 3) Jesus was the perfect Lamb, unflawed and undefiled by human desires. Theologically He would have been within the law and free of sin to get married if He lived by the flesh, but it is a human desire and not of the spirit. Paul wrote, I believe to the Corinthians, if a man can live out of marraige and not sin then it is to his favor not to get married, but it is better that he marry than to sin. A woman on the other hand is better to get married. Jesus was a man, and therefore should have by this same premise remain single so that His life would be focused on pleasing only the Father. With a wife, His time gets divided. 4) Spiritually He would have been commiting adultery. Those who hear his voice are the saints, His bride. His presence here was not to breed, but to call His bride to Him. There are more reasons, but I thought these should be appropriate. It is nest not to entertain thoughts that weaken the faith, but when thoughts like this do come, think them through, seek guidance from others, and if necessary from a minister, and even maybe where the source originates. If you come out of it stronger, then such exercises can be strengthening, especially in a world that is attacking Christianity on every angle. When enough people come up with enough reasons why Jesus isn't who we know He is, then we begi to believe a lie. When we believe a lie, we don't hear His voice.

Yeah, one of the points you stated here is quite right. There were quite a number of people among the Pharisees who were enemies of Jesus. If Jesus did marry and lead a life of an ordinary man, they must try their best to reveal the marriage and make up scandal out of the intimacy of Jesus's being with the woman. But as far as I know there seems to be no such attacks from these people.

I don't think that Jesus married Mary Magdalene because we don't have any evidence. If Jesus had married there is not reason why it should not be mentioned. Craig Blomberg, a theologian, asked why Christians are making a huge fuss over Jesus' marriage. Christianity does not fall or stand with Jesus marriage. It stands or fall with Jesus' resurrection. There is nothing wrong with Jesus getting married provided he got married in 'proper' way. The argument from silence is a powerful argument because Paul wrote about Peter's marriage in certain context. But he did not mention about Jesus' marriage. But if Jesus had married he could have used Jesus as the example to make his reason stronger, in a way. But he did not. And I think that is a powerful argument from silence.

As one of the friends one mylot here stated, if Jesus did marry, there must be rumors made up by the Pharisees in order to attack him. Now both the Bible and his enemies say nothing about such marriage. So I suppose the so called story about Jesus secret doesn't have any substantial evidence to prove its truthfulness.

I know there are a group of people who believe it. But I am not one of them. The information provided in the Holy Blood and the Holy Grail as well as the Da Vinci Code are all fiction - and cannot be proven. If it really comes to it, I guess we will never know. But it stands to reason that since Jesus asked Peter to leave his wife and follow him - that he wouldn't have asked others to take on a celibate lifestyle if he was not willing to do so himself.

There no evidence show any facts in the gossips caused by the controversial books. And I wonder if the gossips have any facts, why the Catholic church tries the hide them.

In our church culture, we are taught (and the bible teaches...) not to go beyond what is written in the bible. Assuming what the book said was true, why was it not written in the scriptures? Because the bible says also that everything written in it is enough for the people to have faith on and be saved. If every aspect of Jesus' life would be written, the space of the whole world would not be enough to have it written on.

My Sunday school teacher also tells us not to go beyond the Bible. Knowing to much is no good especially when men are far from perfect. They just get things messed up very easily. For example we have now mastered many advanced technologies, but some people to use them on developing weapons. This may cause disasters to all people.

There is a book available by Laurence Gardner called "The Magdalene Legacy: The Jesus and Mary Bloodline Conspiracy - Revelations Beyond The Da Vinci Code." It apparently disproves a lot of the so called "theories" about Jesus and Mary Magdalene and what people have thought about them and their relationship. A friend of mine read it and he recommends it highly. He says it totally blew him away. That might be worth a look for you.

Who is Mary Magdalene? Who is Jesus? Are they husband and wife? For what purpose this question come? For me, no matter Jesus married Mary Magdalene or not. I only point to His main issue of what He Teach. He teach us to LOVE. We can dump all do and dont in bible but we can not dump the main issue. World much better if we all understand how to love and to be loved.

I agree with you that Jesus did not marry any woman before his crufixion. there is no such evidence or proofs that Jesus marry a woman. Even his apostles (12) did not say anything about Jesus's marraige, in fact jesus and his apostles are with him during his teaching time and upto his crucifixion. I am a catholic and i believe Jesus's teaching.

To say that Jesus married Mary the Magdalene is another heretical teaching and evil of the end time aiming at underminig Jesus Christ, and deceiving people from following the WAY. Believe it not.

Well let me just get this straight. While I don't have to comment much about this finding, have you read the whole of Bible? I don't think Jesus married Mary Magdalene stated anywhere in the Bible. Mary Magdalene was the follower of Jesus, full stop. Don't misjudge me as I never intend to disagree with you, I was based on the truth of the Bible.

I think it's possible. You have to remember that the bible was written by man..not be jesus or god. It was written by people to make the story how they wanted it. It's possible that very crucial points were left out, even the fact that he was married with children.

It had never occurred to me before reading the Da Vinci Code, and The Blood and the Shroud, that Jesus may have married. After a lot of thought, I don't see why he could NOT have done so. It was certainly not a sin to be married. Many Christian women traveled with the disciples, therefore it would not have been unusual for Mary Magdalene to travel with Jesus, if they were indeed married. I have put this on my list of questions to ask Him when I get to Heaven, because I honestly don't think any man can prove or disprove this issue.
