I am a single father of a 16 year old girl and a 13 year old boy. They are always asking me to go see thier boyfriend and girlfriend and I say no. They answer to me Daddy you are to protestive over us can they come over here for a hour so we can just have a few minutes to spend with them before we have to go to bed for the night. I dont look at that as being over protective but does anyone have any advice they can give me on that situation please.

Your kids are teenagers now. You have to give them some independence and have to trust them. If you restrict them too much then they will get rebellious. Just give them space and they will be fine.

Keep doing what you are doing. you are on the right track. kids will always tell you that you are mean and a bad parent because you don't let them do what they want. If they get no restrictions now, when they are just becoming adults can you imagine how hard it will be for them when they get out into the real world and try to succeed at a job. You are a good father. By the way, I hope you are also telling them no to their friends coming over every night, after school should be for homework, not wscoializing. that should be done on weekends and during lunch hour at school.
