It depends on the person. I don't have any friends, but I do have lots of books and I'm perfectly content that way. The books aren't a replacement for friends. If I met someone I was interested in having for a friend, they wouldn't be a replacement for my books. They're two different things.

of course not, for me no material thing could replace a friend, a book could not replace a friend what ever it takes i could not do that.

i read that watching TV like soap operas stimulates the same areas in the brain that real social interaction does, so i would think reading could do that too, if you are one of those imaginative people that actually "sees" what they read.
but i don't think even the best book beats a nice weekend away at a friends!

I dont think books can replace a best friend. i persoanlly love reading but i also love ebing with people equally. having company is very important for development in life and nothing should replace having friends around.

Books could be friends for some. But in my opinion books cannot take the place of a good friend.Friends are gods gift and I am lucky that god has gifted me with enough friends.

Books can become your friend who can always be with you without any expectations....A friend who keeps giving without expecting.. But dont know whether it can REPLACE your best friend...The choice solely lies with an individual..
