What do you keep your thermostat at in the winter?
It is starting to get cold here. The thermostat said it was 57 degrees in the house this morning. I turned the heat on just long enough to get the temperature up to 62 then I turned it off.
Last winter we couldn't afford our heat so we couldn't turn it up past 60 the whole winter. It was so cold in the house. I am dreading this winter with the baby in the house. I'm going to constantly be worried if she is cold or if she is going to get burnt from the radiators.

Joey keeps it at 65. If I am super cold I will turn it up to 67 for a bit & then turn it back down. It was so cold here yesterday that the heat came on every 20 min.

I am so envious of everyone that can keep their heat above 62, lol. It has been so cold the last week. I worry about the baby. She hasn't wanted to keep her socks on the past 2 days and her feet are purple they are so cold. Luckily she sleeps in our room which is the warmest in the house (because we have a door we keep shut and a fan that circulates the air).
My fingers are always cold and I have to wear 2 pair of socks to keep my feet warm. It sucks.

I try to keep it at 65 but I turn off the thermostats completely for the parts of the house we don't use. So we're really only heating 2 rooms most of the winter - our bedroom and the den.
You can apply for heating assistance with your local government, especially if you have a baby in the house. You shouldn't have to spend the winter in the cold.

We don't qualify for assistance because we make too much money. I wouldn't take it anyway. We keep it liveable. Assistance is for those families that get their heat turned off because they have no way of paying it. We do the payment plan to make it affordable. Our bill was $150 a month last year (instead of $300-$400 in the winter months and $20 in the summer). Right now it evened out at $96 a month even in the summer.
60 is cold though. I'm sitting here and my fingers are numb.

Wow! I guess we keep our heat really high. I like it set on 68, but my husband is always trying to jack it up to 72 and saying that I am freezing him and the children. My daughter always says she is cold and when she gets up in the morning she sits on the heating vent in the living room. I have told her a million times to not do it, because I am afraid of her getting burnt, but I always find her there.

I usually keep it around 60 during the day, then turn it down to around 50 at night. Each room has electric baseboard heat so everyone sets it to suit them.
