Anyone familiar with these old planes, if so please tell me what you know!

My dad use to have one and he loved it, however he crashed, not his fault the wire to the wing flaps was rusted and it snapped as my father was coming in on approach!

I am not, my father was really into airplanes as he served in the airforce as a pilot. I just wanted to ask why you have a dog for the picture?
