I dont think you shuld be affected as long as youre not doing any harm to them. We cant please everybody..and we're entitled for our own happiness.

IF your family and your closest friends have something against your relationship - woulnd't you wonder why? If EVERYONE you knew was trying to talk you out of it... would you let you ego get in the way, or would you actually listen to them. Sometimes love is blind, but friendship isn't. If there were so many people who CARE ABOUT YOU and KNOW YOU WELL against the relationship, wouldn't you hear them out and see if they see something you are too blind to see? Let your pride down for a moment and listen. If there is something valid there, I would consider it. Much better than having them all say "I told you so" as you head to the courthouse for divorce proceedings.

As long as you are staying with your partner because you really love them and not to prove others wrong. Sometimes I think people can be jealous of a relationship because it can take a person away from spending as much time with them. I would curious as to why they would be against the relationship. It was because they knew of an act that person had done then I might listen to them and investigate it. If it is just because they don't like them but don't have proof I would say ignore them. There were and probably still are some that are against the relationship I am in since it is with my ex husband. I have asked those against why and have listened to their concerns. I assure them that I have addressed every past issue and thank them for caring but then explain this is something I have I am doing. I think once I acknowledged their concerns and assured them it was ok they have stopped being against it. If there are still some out there they don't bring it to my attention anymore.
