This was answered by evolution long ago. Two psudo chickens ( birds much like chickens but not quite ) laid an egg. This offspring had evolved slightly from its parents thus making it the first actual chicken. Since he hatched from an egg & his parents weren't actual chickens, the egg came first.

We have this discussion usually at home. My sister finally answers the chicken comes from a dinosaur or other kind of speciment, it evolves from another. I have chicken soup when I am sick. It has to be homemade though. I grew up with Jewish penicillin and I know for a fact that it really does help because I was always better a few days after having my first bowl of it.
