who is better?

i think brian lara is some what better than sachin.

Quite interesting as the caliber of both player is similar.so very hard to say who is better.ok I would say that both are great batsman, but i like Lara by his personality and tempre and i would say Lara is better than Sachin.

Sachin was better, but not now. Now Brian is better, though Sachin may be technically sound.

Personally I think Sachin is better player. He has his own class and style of playing. If you look at the stats, I checked the stat-guru at cricinfo.com and you would see why Sachin is better. He has an amazing record in ODI compared to Lara. This being said, I still don't doubt Lara. I guess, just that he had too many bad patches and his overall rating has suffered.

being an indian,i simply adore the master batsman for all that he has done for this country.but alas,i have to vote for brian lara on the topic of who is a better batsman. the similarities between the two giants of world cricket are pretty striking...both are one of the best few in the business,both have accumulated runs like there's no tomorrow,both have lived a light in constant media scrutiny,both carry the hopes of their countries on their shoulders. but when it comes to crunch situations,lara is the one on whom most would put their money on,for the number of times he has snatched victory from the jaws of defeat,that too single handedly many times,goes to show that he is superior in that respect to sachin. just the comparison of the number of match winning and match saving knocks lara has played and those played by tendulkar will reveal that the calypso king is better. also lara's reputation still strikes discomfiture in any bowler's heart...but sadly,the same isnt true for the little master,whose powers it seems are on the wane.
