would you prefer to receive flowers because of their color and beauty or a plant that will last much longer?

For the most part I apprecaite a nice plant that I can attempt (operative word is attempt) to keep alive and remember the person and occassion. But I admit that I do love to walk through the house and see some pretty cut flowers on occassion! And the smell of fresh cut flowers can't be beat!

I much prefer to receive flowers, although I've only once been given flowers by one of my past partners being a bloke it's unusual I know but even blokees like flowers. I am not green fingered so it's no use getting a plant, the poor thing would probably die on me LOL!

Ok Wolfie, if you find some flowers in this response box it's not from a bloke, maybe it's from Samantha (Bewitched) from the other discussion you answered. Hahahaha

Awwwww, Howard how sweet of you. I'd prefer flowers hon, just send them to.... LOL Actually I do prefer flowers. I kill plants and I kill even the hardiest of them so for me to get a plant I feel horrible! I love flowers and to be honest, as much as I love roses, they die so quickly and are so expensive that I really usually prefer those country bouquets or mums of some type which last much longer. I think flowers can brighten up a room so quickly!!! I love this time of year because tons of markets have Valentines leftovers with their flowers and they mark them down so much. I end up with flowers all over the house, looking wonderful.

My mum bought me a beautiful bouquet of roses last week as I'd been in hospital and they were truly lovely and are still beautiful even now. I think it's so nice to receive flowers when they are unexpected, it certainly gave me a lift. But on the practical side a plant would obviously last a lot longer. I think maybe it depends on why we are given these gifts rather than what they are.

A flower is best to give because it really shows the beauty right away, while a plant may take a while for someone to appreciate, and most often the recepient is given the burden of taking care of a living thing. Sometimes lack odf space on where to put the potted plant also poses a problem. Flowers are easily transferred to a glass vase to be appreciated at an instant. Just my two cents worth. :)

Definitely plant. I'm the one who convinced most of the people in her family to switch to plastic Christmas tress. Plants can be really pretty colors, too.

Flowers die but a plant can live for many years, so I would prefer a plant before flowers. If you get an outdoor plant and you have property the plant can live for many years. When I was young a friend gave me a small tree and I planted it outside and it is still growing even though I moved from that house over 35 years ago. If it is an indoor plant it too can grow for many years with proper care.

I would prefer flowers just because they make me feel special and happy:) I love having a fresh cut bouquet on the table during the summer, we have a huge flower bed at our house and it's makes me so happy to go out there and pick the flowers fresh, and they smell so beautiful too!

I would prefer a plant because like you said they last much longer. I love in door plants I just don't have enough room for them. In the summer I hang them outside on my porch but I have to be careful about getting too many because come winter I find no room inside.

I have told my boyfriend many times that if he really wants to bring me a bouquet of flowers, bring me pretty silk ones (and tulips, not roses, ok? lol). If I am going to be given REAL flowers, I would rather be given the seeds to grow, or a potted plant, or something like that. Or potted flowers! I used to have miniature violets that I absolutely adored. :)
