best special effects??

the lord of the ring trilogy is by far the movie which can boast of having the best of special effects till date. i am really mesmerized by the way the story unfolds and the effects along with the costumes add punch to the storyline. is there any movie that can contest this?

I thought the special effects in the final Lord of the Rings looked bad, at least parts. Depends on what sort of effects you speak of really..almost all movies use some form of special effects if you're not limited to just including CGI

Well, I agree with ThinkingMan, there's really no movie that can compare to Lord of the Rings yet. They have the complete recipe for an epic movie. Visual effects, storyline, script, costumes, setting, lore, everything.. Simply awesome!

I think Harry Potter and the new one Bridge to Teribithia may be right up there. Although each movie has it's own specialties. I don't think any of them can beat Gollum. :}
