A few weeks ago, I heard a news story about Bank of America letting illegal immigrants open credit card accounts without having a social security number. This doesn't make any sense to me. Why would you give credit to someone who doesn't have any means for you to find them if they didn't pay you back? They should be encouraged to get into the country the right way and become tax-paying citizens. If they don't want to do that, they should get a credit card from their own country.
My husband wants me to cancel my Bank of America card in protest of their support of illegals.
I think they are just trying to make a buck, maybe they charge them a higher interest rate and have a lower limit due to being high risk. Or maybe it's one of those secured cards where you have to have the money on deposit to be able to charge anything. What do you think?

I don't really care what they are dong as far as giving illegals higher interest or secured cards. It's wrong and bank of America should be stopped from doing this! Yes I agree with your spouse in dropping your business with them in protest to what they are doing.

I am sick of illegals here in Texas border hoping into Texas and trying to take advantage of our services. This isn't the Mexican dream this is the American dream for people. I am sick of people telling me to speak spanish in a country founded by the english. I am sick of illegals coming here getting social security checks without denials. I am sick of them trying to rip off our economy like it's a free for all business. Banck of America can kiss my @ss.

I just finished reading the article that dragonryder posted the link to. Very interesting article that discusses Bank of America's plans, but more importantly, Wells Fargo and Citibank have had similar programs for years.
After reading this I still agree with everyone here that this is all about big business trying to make more money. Shouldn't we be encouraging illegal immigrants to become citizens in order to take advantage of everything America has to offer, rather than the other way around?

Two problems with that. One they already broke our laws by coming here illegally, who knows what else they might break and justify it away like they did to move here. Second most are not trying to become legal citizens. That's the big thing, they just want to use our resources without putting anything back. That's wrong.

They call themselves Bank of "America", but they are really Bank of "I Want Money". I used to have an account with them a long time ago; but, I canceled it when they wanted to charge me interest on money owed when I had already paid the payment before the due date. I paid the interest they demanded and then cancelled EVERY account I had with them!
If I was still doing business with them; this would make me cancel my accounts. This practice makes it easier for these ILLEGAL immigrants to stay in the US and send US dollars OUT of the country helping finance their friends and family's ILLEGAL trips here. We need to make it harder to get here illegally and harder to STAY here if you are here illegally.
Bank of America is really out of touch with the American public.
