Letter writing, Thank you notes

How many people take the time to write letters, thank you notes, and send out birthday cards to people? Is this something you have ever done or still continue to do?

I could do better. I always mean to, but...

Well it's something we all can try and do. lol I do try Flit, but sometimes my forgetfulness gets in the way as well.

I usually do the writing part of it... it's the getting it into an envelope with an address and a stamp that I can't seem to manage! LOL

Several years ago, my aunt helped me financially until I landed a better-paying job. She not only sent occasional checks, but gave me one of her bank books to use in time of need. I've always remembered her with a thank-you note or card. She's up in years, 91 or 92, too. I also remember to send her holiday and birthday cards, and one of my cousins sent her a bouquet of fresh roses on Valentine's Day. I'm also close to my aunt and even send a little cheerful card in between.

Now that's someone who really trusted and cared about you. Sounds like she's deserving of a nice card one in awhile just to cheer her up.

I don't do that, and I get realyl annoyed when people send me a thank you note. What good does it do me, I already got them a present. Waste of time IMO :-)

I run a group on gather.com called the birthday club so I celebrate everyones birthday, I publish my own newsletter, storytime tapestry and I send out birthday cards to the members. My personal email friends I send electronic cards too, not big on letter writing anymore because I don;t have the time, but write many emails. I send thank you notes online and off for different reasons as well.

Your birthday club is a really great thing to offer. What a wonderful way to let others know you're thinking about them. Sounds like you do a great many things for others winterose. Good for you sending out the thank you notes.

I think letter writing and thankyou notes are becoming a lost art. I have also noticed not many people respond to RSVPs as my daughters wedding is coming up and she has only gotten 5 RSVPs out of 80 so now has to ring everybody up to ensure they are coming so she knows how many to cater for. I send birthday cards to my relatives and friends. I hope this is not another thing to fall to the wayside.

Such a shame that people think they don't need to bother to respond when they receive these things...but they often just assume that it's ok just to show up. Almost makes you feel like putting on the invites that if people don't respond there won't be a meal available.
