I wonder if anyone can help me?? I have been trying to purchase a USB cable for a IBM Thinkpad 600X...Everyone keeps telling me that I must have it wrong and all the USB cables are the same. I'm trying to connect my camera and myflash. I live in Toronto, Canada and I'm tired of ordering the parts from the web only to find they send me the wrong cable. If anyone knows where I can purchase one, I would be extremely grateful. THANKS!

You should be able to buy a cable from any electronis store around you..for a camera..it will have a USB plug on one end and usually a square plug on the other..what does the plug into your camera look like?

I have been into every store in the area...they all try and sell me the same one. I have no problem with the attachment for the camera or my flash, it's just the USB on the computer that's off. I have a feeling that this is going to cost me!

USB is unib\versal..are you sure you have one? Can you get a USB adapter plug..one end is USB compatible and the other end would plug into a ps2 port..they are about an 1 inch...my laptop only has one USB port and I use that to attach other USB devices..

I know what you are talking about. I had a friend that ran into the same problem. Try this link: http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=2164782&CatId=607 it is for tigerdirect.com. This should work. It is a universal USB cord that comes with interchangeable connectors for all USB connections and it only cost around 30 dollars. Good luck, hope this will help you.

Not true mon frere! There are USB cables that are male/male ends(flat retagular USB port plug) there are mini USB cordes, like the one I use for my Canon digtal elph camera, there are high speed usb cable (different from standard because the hs cable is fiber optic and usually just a little longer than a standard usb cable). Your friends are, how shoulc I put this...?"WRONG!" Before you take your friends advice as the gospel truth you could do a quick online search and get facts rather than conjecture. http://www.calibex.com is a great place to find all kinds of interface cords as is http://www.discountdepot.com. Take a look, the links are jsut generic refence links so I have no investment in your using or not using them so go take a look and decide if your friends are right or not. Good luck. Shay

You need to buy a cable from the manufacture of the item you are trying to plug in. You camera will have a different USB connection than the side you plug into say a printer or another brand of camera. Contact the maker of the camera and get the USB cable from them. The side that plugs into the PC will be the same as any other USB cable...

Hi Angileyes, thanks for your response! Unfortunately the USB port isn't the same on my p.c. I have contacted IBM but I'm still waiting for a response... I know it's strange, but true. If you are interested have a look on there website, here's the link and you will see it's not the normal USB port http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?lndocid=MIGR-4YQHUD.
