bookcrossing the practice of leaving a book in a public place to be picked up and read by others, who then do likewise The "3 Rs" of BookCrossing... 1 Read a good book (you already know how to do that) 2.Register it on the website (along with your journal comments), get a unique BCID (BookCrossing ID number), and label the book 3.Release it for someone else to read (give it to a friend, leave it on a park bench, donate it to charity, "forget" it in a coffee shop, etc.), and get notified by email each time someone comes here and records a journal entry for that book. And if you make Release Notes on the book, others can Go Hunting for it and try to find it! http://www.bookcrossing.com/ Have any of you guys actually done this? I was browsing through the web and stumbled upon this site. It sounds a really good idea. I just wondered if it really works?

I've never heard of this but plan to look into it. I have been to places that have book swaps. Where you are able to put books up on a shelf and others can take if they want. It can be nice. Usually it's been at a work place but it's still nice for people to be able to share books that way.

I've done this. I've left a book in a Marks and Spencers cafe and someone found it and made a note on the website. This was about three months ago. Unfortunately they haven't made any further notes, so I guess they are still reading it! I put the Bookcrossing label label on the outside cover of the book. If you put it inside, people can't see at a glance that it's meant to be left there. They assume it's someone's lost property and won't touch it, they even open the book to see any notes inside.

Its sounds like a good idea. Hmm, I want to try it. Now the big question is, what book am I willing to part with.lol! I love books, so deciding on which one to leave behind a park will be so hard for me.
