With a ban to smoking coming in all public places to most areas, I was wondering about a discussion I had with my friend. He thinks that there are more non smokers than smokers now. I'm not sure.
I am a smoker and have been for 15 years. The longest I evergave up was a month!
Are you a smoker? Are you an ex smoker? How long have you given up for?

I am a smoker, but I live in California, which is always the most agressive in all its decisions. It has been several years since I have been able to smoke indoors in publc. I do not like it but consider it the price I pay for living where I do.
There are many cities in CA which are considering banning smoking in all public places, and many coastal cities have made it illegal to smoke on the beaches. The only reason I support that is that many smokers use the beaches as ashtrays and leave butts wherever they please. Does not make the smoker welcome if you leave your butts just laying about.
I have not "officially" quit, much to my husband's dismay. I suppose I will quit - when I want to. The worst smoking foe is the ex-smoker. My husband quit because he was ill and it did not bother him one bit. He was lucky... I have had much less luck - but I am in the process of cutting back on my own terms. Hope springs eternal... If I want to stop.

I'm a smoker and have been for 25 yrs, yes before I was 18 I started. I have stopped for as long as 15 months. On several occasions a year at a time. The only reason that I quit on those long occasions was because of pregnancy and nursing. I'm one of those people who actually enjoys smoking. I find that when I'm stressed it helps me to feel calmer. I'm sure that it's just in my head but that is how I feel.
I don't smoke in my home or vehicle because I have children and consider myself to be a very considerate smoker. Although even when I'm being considerate I find that non smokers aren't as considerate of me, what I mean by that is if you don't like the fact that I smoke don't sit down nest to me and proceed to make noises about my smoking. This has happened many times to me, especially in a casino, I'm sitting there minding my own business smoking a cig. and someone sites down nest to me and proceeds to wave their hand in there face because of the smoke, you SAW me SMOKING, go to the non smoking section if it bothers you so much. We actually have a casino by us that has a non smoking section just for people who can't take the smoke it has the same games as we smokers have. Thank you for allowing me to rant for a few minutes, I now release my soap box to the next person with an opinion. :)

Very well said. I agree 110% that the government shouldn't make a decision on an individual who owns his/her business, they should be able to decide if he/she wants it to be smoking. If you don't like smoking then don't work at that place of employment. I don't think the government should be allowed to decide for all.

I'm a smoker. I've been a smoker now for 17 years. It's something I really enjoy, one of the few things I do get to enjoy in life. To be honest I don't know which is more right now, smokers or non-smokers. Be interesting to find out though.

I'm a smoker myself, but I can say that I smoke responsibly. I have been smoking for 14 years now, though I stopped for almost a year, hear I am again. Maybe more worst than ever, I don't have any control of it anymore. But I am trying to stop it, I just hope that I have more will to do so.
