As I am getting older I'm becoming more interested in being sure to eat healthy. The Canadian government has just come out with the new food guide and I see that they are getting very specific about portion sizes. It seems like we have become a culture of gluttonous eaters. Have you seen "Super Size Me'? For me to eat healthy I've learned I absolutely must eat breakfast and eat it early. No getting up and getting on the computer before I eat or even into the shower, it's eat first then get on to the rest of the day. I avoid fast food whenever possible since I like to be sure of what exactly is in my food. Also in that vein I cook from scratch most of the time. That includes bread, I do love my breadmaker. I have water with me at all times to be sure to get enough daily. This has become a passion for me and I'd love to hear other points of view and experiences. Please if it's not too personal give me an idea of your age. I ask this as I think that younger people are missing this message because of the heavy advertising done directly to them. Thanks for your responses.

For me to eat healthy I've learned to eat two meals in a day. My children are doing the same thing. We ate all kinds of food, but the most important thing that we have for our meals is rice. I was borned and raised as an Aisan Kid. I grow up and got married. My children were very closed to grandmother which is my mom: therefore, they ate food that are resemble to her. I absolutely do not like to eat fastfood and so do the kids. If I decided to eat breakfast I would prefer to go Denny or IHOP. I ate breakfast one in a while. I sure want to learn how to make bread and cake. I never spent my time to learn how to make that because no one in my family would eat it. My daughter hates desert. Seem like you are very talent person, you know how to cook from scratch. I only know how to cook a little bit of Asian, a little bit of Itatalian, a little bit of middle east, a lot of American foods. Food is became your passion. For me I only cooked what my kids would eat and what I would eat. I don't have anything special about cooking. We are ate just to live. I love to get on internet and read, chat, send mail and so on. I am sure glad that you are a special person who have desire to cook. Sorry that I am not that much creative when it comes to cooking but I do know how to choose foods and what to cook for dinner. I do like grille steak outdoor on holidays. My three kids are now 28, 25 and 23. You can guess my age!

Our family is going to fewer starches and carbs. Also, trimming fat off of meat such as pork chops. Another neat thing that I learned is if you bake food it is a lot healthier and you can drain off the grease. There are so many wonderful recipes for baking. We've cut down our overall meat consumption as well. It is amazing how little meat you need for the entire day. You actually have more energy with whole grains and fruits then a heavy piece of meat in your stomach.
