Does anyone still believe in Fixed Deposit?

The interest on Fixed Deposit (FD) is pretty low today. As in Malaysia, the average FD rate is 3.7%.
Do you prefer to keep your money in the bank for the low interest because it is Guaranteed?
Or do you put it to other places, i.e. Share, Mutual Funds, Golds, Insurance...???
