What is religion?

What exactly is classified as religion? containing a God? does religion have to have a God? Is it necessary?

I am a Christian Preacher, writer and Evangelist.
I don't follow any religion as they are all man made.
I teach what the Bible says.
I teach the love, mercy and grace of Jesus Christ.
