Some newspapers are 'intelligent', some are plain gossip trash and some are a mixture of the two. I read my local newspaper and a national newspaper, and sometimes I pick up a different national newspaper if there's a particular report in it I want to read. I can't say I agree or like ALL of the stuff in the ones I read... but I suppose that goes for many things in media right?

I agree with the person who responded before me. It depends on the paper. But for the most part I think papers are intelligent writing. Our local party covers international news story as well as local ones. I don't think there's any trash in it. All that bothers me is it seems like these days everytime you open the newspaper it's almost nothing but bad stories. What is this world coming to?

I would say that depends on the paper. Where I live there are two papers that to me look more like a gossip magazine than a news paper. So I do not buy them. We subscribe for two papers. One that correspond to my political point of view, and one from my boyfreinds home town. i like them both, for different reasons. One gives me news in areas of interest to me, the other helps us to keep up with what's going on in my Boyfriends hometown. useful to know who's getting married and stuff like that
