windows vista or mac

i have been using a windows based operating system since a very long time now and very much used to using windows system and also find very ease and user friendly. but as i have been listnin to people and reading about mac compuer that they are not effected by virus. For me that at lease will be a good resaon now to switch over to mac, as my data will be secured and will not have a fear of loosing my documents. but i am not aware of other thing that will be effecting the computer performance. users of mac computer please respond.
