do you have a favorite breed of horse? For me, my favorite breed of horse is the arabian. Eventually if I'm able, I plan to get a pure white Arabian mare. She would be my specialty horse but for everyday riding, I eventually would like to obtain a black Arabian Stallion. Yes, I realise stallions can be abit much to handle for the untrained, but I was raised with horses and have ridden most my life. So, What is your favorite breed of horse? Curious minds...

I love Arabs too, I was raised with Arabs, Quarter Horses, Paints and Appaloosas.
My first was an Arab, Star, she was a "white" mare (as you probably know, there aren't any true white horses, just grey that are missing their black hair... lol... one day the "pros" will have to admit that some horses really are white!!)
My barrel horse now, Paris is a grey Quarter/ Arab mare, I had a grey (notice a pattern here? lol) Arab stallion, Tres, as a teenager, he was a good challenge, they can be more of a challenge to control, but so much fun! As are most Arabs, with their spirit, you are always on your toes.
I also have 2 sorrel Quarter Horse geldings, Jerry and Bo (on my profile) tht I use for various things, team penning, trail riding, pick up horses (rodeo), riding lessons.
I have an Appy, Patches that is mainly a trail horse, Sher is a chestnut Arab and DD is a bay Arab... there are a few other QH's, Paints and Appy's that we use on the ranch
Do you ride English?

no...western and would love to learn sidesaddle. As you also know, what is considered a true white is one with the pink skin rather than the grey. And yes, I see a distinct pattern here...you're definately an Arabian gal...I'm having to do without for now due to circumstances but I do understand quite well the love y ou and I share for horses. Wish I was abit closer so we could go riding together... *smile*

Most people I know that love Arabs ride English, guess you and I are the exception, lol
I had to go without horses for a few years due to living curcimstances, but hope to never again.
I would love for you to stop by and ride sometime! :)
I'm a softie, and all my horses are rescues, (as well as most of my other animals), every time the rescue down the road gets one that needs some time and training they call me up and I always have a trailer down there within the hour :), so I have more horses than most people consider normal, lol, but once they are ready I do adopt them out... well most of them *grin*
3 of the 6 at my ranch are there to stay the others will be up for adoption after some more time
The 5 I named in my earlier post are here to stay, the other 7 will be up for adoption. One mare just had a filly so she'll be here for a while yet, 4 came from the home of an elderly man who could no longer care for them, so they hadn't been ridden in a while.
I teach lessons and instead of asking for pay, I ask that each student picks a rescue to give a lot of attention to. I think it's a win/ win for both the horses and the kids and of course it helps me out! lol

Friesians.
they are just the most stunning horses. so much presence and power. and beautiful long wavy manes, tails and feathers.
although I used to have a fantastic Arab and he was just the most fun little horse you could hope to have. Arabs have a great sense of humour.

Oh, yes, Friesians. I have a Friesian-Morgan gelding, but you can barely tell he's part Morgan. He's got the feathers, the big neck, the pure black coat, and the long, thick, wavy mane and tail. Friesians are not only beautiful horses, but have absolutely marvelous personalities. They're curious and personable, though they can be a bit stubborn. My boy has to know about everything that's going on, all the time! He always gets compliments on his looks. Of course, right now, in the summer sun, he looks more like a bay than any Friesian I've seen!
I love Arabians, too, though the only ones I've met have tended to be a bit haughty. Still, they're beautiful creatures, no denying that. I particularly like their distinctive dished faces and tails held high, like flags or war banners. Then again, all horses are marvelous creatures.

I've only ridden a little. But I adore horses. If I had to pick a favorite I'd probably pick a Gypsy Vanner..or a Fresian.
I don't know why..I'm just in awe -- well in extreme awe whenever I see them.

If I had to pick one breed for a favorite it would have to be Tennessee Walkers. I have a black registered Walking horse mare that I intend to show when she gets a little older. Walking horses are a wonderful breed - they are high strung, but they are also very gentle horses and have a wonderful disposition. I love gaited horses - we raise registered Spotted Saddle Horses, and I am going to breed my Walker mare to a very good blooded Walker stallion in the spring also. My second choice of a favorite breed would be either Quarter horses or Paint horses. My barrel horse is a APHA gelding that is mostly Quarter horse, with just enough paint bloodlines to register.

It is hard to pick one favorite horse breed. I love all horses. I was raised around mostly Quarter horses. I have two Quarter horses, a Paint , and a half Quarter/ half Thoroughbred. I just love all my horses.. but right now my favorite has to be my Thoroughbred/Quarter stud colt. He is just gorgeous and so full of spirit.
I have never rode anyway but western and really find no interest in any other way.
Ride on........

I've always been a fan of horse racing, so my favorite breed has to be the thoroughbred. I just think they've been refined for so long and are so athletic. I guess if I had to choose another breed, I'd say Quarter Horses with their quick bursts of speed. http://www.equinenow.com
