Salvation by confessing that Jesus is Lord????

Hi all, In Romans 10:9 it reads "...if you confess with your lips that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved." I used to believe this verse, but now I feel that our deeds are also as important as our beliefs. For example: Consider a Christian who is a murderer, would that person be still saved, just because he confessed that Jesus is Lord. Grace is there but works are also important. What do you say?
