I was just wondering if anyone out there thinks that if your own dog is behind a gate and someone reaches over to touch your dog and your dog bites them do you feel sorry for them or do you tell them that is why the gate is there. I have people working in my house and my dogs are behind a gate and the guys reached over and the dogs bite one of them and they think it is my problem to do something about the bite. I said no way. what do you guys think.

I think if that was my dogs then tough luck, its their problem. Obviously their parents didnt teach them not to touch dogs they dont know coz they might bite. As far as i am concerned if my dog is in my backyard and someone gets in there and gets bitten its their problem. My dogs know that if we let people into our yard and we are with them then it must be ok for them to be there, and if we are not there, look out.

It's not the owners fault if a person gets bit by a dog that is behind a fence and on the owners property. Since these guys reached their hands over the gate, he was doing so at his own risk. Now if the dog had been running around and not properly restrained than it would have become your problem since you weren't keeping your dog properly restrained within the city limits.
