If so, what is your favorite style to read? Where do you write, if you write and what are your favorite fandoms to explore?
Right now I'm writing a Battlestar Galactica fanfic, my first one, but before this I wrote a lot of Harry Potter Fanfiction, Riddick, Lord of the Rings, and Sandman.

I've writen fanfic for years. I've writen several Doctor Who stories back in the '80's and some Man From UNCLE. I've even writen a Wild Wild West story. Most of my Doctor Who stories were cross overs, Who/UNCLE, Who/MASH, Who/Time Tunnel. I've also writen some original fic. I lost a dear friend almost 9 years ago & really haven't writen anthing since. I used to say I couldn't write if I was really happy. Well, guess what, I can't write when I'm really sad either!

Have you posted your Dr. Who fics online anywhere since then? I have a good friend on my website who writes Dr. Who fanfic, and she is an amazing writer.

It's hard to lose stuff. I had my hard drive crash last year and no back up files because all of my disks were corrupted. I thought I would never stop crying, but thankfully we were able to pull all the old files off the PC.
I'm only in my thirties, but my friend who writes Dr. Who fanfic is in her mid forties, I think. A lot of us discovered we had been writing fanfiction most of our lives and didn't even realize it.
Funny when things you've done most of your life become immensely popular.

Hey girl, I'm OLD. I wrote, published & went out of print before the online thing! I had one of my orginal stories posted online, but it is now gone (I just checked on it.) Sadly, when my computer went belly up about 18 months ago, I lost a lot of stuff, some the roomie has, but most is now only on paper.

The term fanfiction is actually new for me. Forgive my ignorance, but can you elaborate more on this. I assume its writing about something you obviously enjoy. Is it something you post online, like a blog? Do you go to a website and join a discussion board? Is this like a group or organization that you become a member? I'm just curious about the whole thing.

I actually have a website for writers, some of us share original work, but we almost all of us started out sharing our fanfiction. There are sites like fanfiction.net that host every fandom from Batman Begins the Cartoon, to the Three Stooges, Japanese Anime cartoon stories and Manga to books, comics, television shows, films, you name it. Usually it stems from a desire to experience a world that you enjoy from the outside. A lot of writers want to experience that world, and the only way to do it is through their own imagintion. Some post on blogs, communities, their own website, wherever. :)
I hope that answers your question. :)

FanFic became popular long before the website. There is a lot of Battlestar Galactica fanfic from the old series before they pretty much decided to start the series over from scratch.
There was also a lot of Star Trek fanfic, so much of it that uh ... Well - quite a few good stories too. I've even read a few cross-over stories of Star Trek & BSG, Star Trek & Star Wars, & I think I even stumbled upon all three in a story. Most of the crossover stories were pretty good.
I've done a bit of that myself a while back, but most of it never really got too far. Actually, I might still have all or most of those unfinished stories somewhere on 3 1/2" floppies.

I've never written any but I've read many that I have enjoyed. I've read Xena/Hercules, Angel/Buffy, Stargate, Harry Potter, and Lord of the Rings. I haven't found any Battlestar Galatica yet but I'm sure I will in time. Sooner or later I get to a site with one.

I've never really wrote that much fanfiction although I wrote a little for Buffy the Vampire Slayer. I read mostly Harry Potter fanfiction nowadays.

I mostly read fanfiction. I've tried writing it years before and tried it one again, but all I can do are one shots that are of poor quality.
I usually read Harry Potter and anime's...
By the way, who are you in fanfictio.net? I'd like to read your fanfics if I have some time.

I discovered fan fiction last year. I read Battlestar, Veronica Mars,Harry Potter and a lot more. Right now I'm writing American Gothic, Hex, and Subspecies. I mainly read it off of fanfiction.net and Livejournal.

I used to write a lot of fan fiction, but not that much anymore as I am now writing my novel, practicing my singing, and of course mylot. I write mainly Prey and The Pretender Fan fiction. I find that when I start a fan fiction and the show is still on, I make a mess about it and what I predict happens does not = not even close. IO have not started a Battlestar Galactica fan fiction because I have not had a chance to watch each episode more than once and have missed some and I want to get the characters right.

Oh yes. I started out in Star Trek Voyager, then moved to the Stephanie Plum series, then Harry Potter and now I read a lot of Wolverine/Rogue XMen movie stories. I love that in fan fiction you can add depth to characters by re-imagining them.
