I was watching CTV Newsnet, I believe it was Friday if I remember correctly .
Did you hearr about the young lady taking her kids to school (I THINK), but on her way there she had to stop in at her work to dropoff some papers, She was only inside for a minute or two?
Anyways her youngest baby got out of the car seat and started playing with the ELECTRIC WINDOW, her older brother who fell asleep while she was gone was of no help .
Anyways while the mom was inside the office the little Girl got caught up in the WINDOW and it STRANGLED HER .
BUT, before the mom came back a PASSERBY seen what was happening, so HE/SHE came to assist but not knowing where the mom/dad was left to find a phone to call 911 .
At the same time the Mom came out of the office, seeing her daughter on the seat ( THINKING SHE HAD FELL ASLEEP ) the POOR MOM just buckled her back up into the CAR SEAT,
Not thinking anything and went along their way .
When the MOM went to go inside with her son, taht was when she realized her daughter wasn`t breathing and something was TERRIBLY TERRIBLY WRONG .
In the meantime the person who had assisted and called 911 ------
Found thet after they had left and 911 had arrived, not finding the girl or the MOM .
That was when the MOM CALLEZD 911, but the Mom was enroute and on her cell phone and couldn`t be tracked . By the time THEY were able to locate them it was TOO LATE .
HER DAUGHTER HAD ALREADY DIED .
I couldn`t believe what I was hearing .
TOTALLY BREAKS MY HEART .............
POOR FAMILY what a SIN ............
AND LIKE THE MOM SAID IT ONLY TOOK A MINUTE .
THATS HOW FAST THESE THINGS CAN HAPPEN .........
SO SAD FOR ALL OF THE FAMILY ..............
MAKES A PERSON WANT TO CRY ...............................
DID YOU SEE IT ????????????????

I hardly ever watch the news anymore. It is just too depressing. I did read someones discussion on here about it and it is so sad. I can see how that could easily happen. Can you imagine how that mom must feel?

I totally agree . The Mother was very irresponsible , I mean it would have only taken a minute or two to take the kids in with her . Or the mom could have called ahead and have someone meet her at the door if it was that important . I still haven`t heard of any charges being laid yet . They aren`t saying anything today about it so far I`ll let people here know what happens if I hear .

You are so right , kids don`t know when they are doing something that will hurt them ,until after they are hurt , unless the parents teach them . I just have a hard time with this type of story .

All i can say is that accidents or occurences like these happen from time to time no matter how careful we are. It might be a heartbreaking exprience but in the end theres nothing we can do. I guess the only thing we can do to avoid these situations, is to be more very very careful, dont let your kids out of your sight, especially when in cars or public places, and always pray for protection and guidance.

Yes these type of things do happen every other day , sometimes even though you are as careful as you can be at the time . However leaving kids in cars is a scary one , it is one thing most people wouldn`t dream of doing . Even if it`s only for a minute . Thats when it`s most likely going to happen WHEN YOU LEAST EXPECT IT . It does only take 1 minute and everything can go wrong .

I didn't see this anywhere and it is a very sad story BUT...
First of all she never should have left them alone. Even if it only was for "just a minute". If they were small enough to be in car seats they shouldn't have been alone. Secondly If a child is buckled in properly she shouldn't have been able to get out. Thirdly, on my car at least, the power windows only work if the key is turned on. This means that she probably left the car running as well. What if the child had bumped the car out of gear and into traffic killing other people as well? And the last thing I have to question is how she could have picked her child up, buckled her back in her car seat without noticing that she wasn't breathing? Plus she said she was only gone for a minute. Did she really think her child got her self out of the car seat and then fell asleep within a minute. It really sounds like she was gone for much longer than that. Especially if it was long enough for her older child to fall asleep while she was gone. Like I said it's really sad that this happened but I think the mother was very irresponsible and that there is more to the story that she perhaps is hiding. I'm having a hard time finding sympathy for her based on this account, sorry.

Yes the mom was on the news and everything soon afterwards , I don`t know how she could`ve had the strength . I cried too I cry for all the Family this is just too sad . I mean the mom even said on camera that she found her on the seat and thought she was asleep , not thinking anything was wrong . I just can`t believe how fast things like this happen .

I didn't hear or see anything on the news about this sad story. What the heck is wrong with this woman to leave let alonge her baby who happen to have been wide awake in the car while her older brother was fast asleep. I thought that once your car is off unless the was stupid to have left her keys in the ignition that you can't have the windows move in any way shape or form. Even if she had to go into her office, She should of taken her kids with her. What's more important your work or Kids?

Thats what all of people here at MyLot are wondering .
I mean most cars today have that very feature , for this very reason .
So either the mom neglected to use it , or she didn`t know how ......
I don`t know ?
So far their have been no charges laid , But this could change .
We`ll have to watch and see ....

OMG .... This is so sad and that poor woman especially not knowing what was going on! I have two young children and i would be so devasted in such a case and yes it does only take a minute or two and that is it. I do not blame the mother as this is something that we do not think will happen and it is so sad. My heart broke just reading it and i will be saying some prayers for her as well as her family a her mothre mother must be going through so much right now!

It is a very sad sad story I feel for the mom to . At the same time I feel for the Big Brother , I hope he doesn`t grow-up blaming himself .
I do wonder why her back windows weren`t locked , and did she leave the keys in ?
I don`t know the whole complete story , we`ll see what happens .
I`m almost sure we`ll hear the outcome .

Yes this is sad, but this isn't the first time this has happened. I saw a report on the news about a rancher who was feeding the cattle and left his daughter in the truck for a few minutes while he was doing his feedings. When he got back to the truck, he found her hanging in the window. This happened a couple of years ago, and the family was lobbying for saftey features on the vehicle windows. I guess they haven't got very far on that.

Most cars with electric windows have a safety lock in front , so people in back cannot open or close them . Did her car have this feature if so she didn`t know how to work them , and if she did she just din`t lock them .
I mean what or why was she in such a hurry ?
You are right though you do hear of this type of thing more and more .
Thats the sad part .

This is a sad situation, but I find it difficult to have any kind of sympathy for this mother who left her children in the car alone. I never left my daughter alone in the car. Maybe it's the society we live in today, but I just couldn't bring myself to do something like that. This mother made a terrible mistake, and yes, it is sad for the entire family. I'm sure she will feel guilt for the rest of her life, but I can't feel sorry for her.

You feel the way I do , I do feel sorry for the family and the mom , but mostly her son who will most likely blame himself for the rest of his life . The mom did make a terrible mistake , and she herself will also blame herself for their loss . I do wish them the best in their future even though they are amidst a hard time right now , the mom should be thankful so far that Children's Aid Society hasn`t taken her son as of yet . Only they might yet .
Thanks for your response .

I did not see or hear about this particular incident but I would NEVER but absolutely NEVER leave children alone in the car, the house, anywhere. One split second is all it takes for disaster to strike.
I feel bad for the mom, and pray that she has learned a lesson before anything happens to the other child.

That is horrible. I feel for that little girl. No matter where I go, even if all I have to do is run into the gas station really quick I always take my children in. Yes it is a hassle but I would much rather my children be safe than not have them at all. You hear of all the parents that leave their children in the car and someone gets in and takes off. I don't ever want to be put into that situation. Always take your children inside with you no matter what.

Thanks .
Cars are stolen more and more these days , even with kids in them . Thank God that didn`t happen .
This is partly why I posted this , so people can see IT ONLY TAKES A MINUTE . And hopefully parents or whoever won`t take the chance of it happening .

I couldn`t believe what I was hearing . I mean now adays NO ONE should ever leave their kids alone . Kids are curious and We as adults don`t know what is going on in their little Minds . The daughter probably woke up wondering where Mommy is , or something like that and hit the button trying to find her mom .
Its so sad , and ONLY TAKES A MINUTE .
Thanx

I did not see it, but I had seen others that have had the same thing occur to them, on the news. It is so sad, and so common, and so scary. It can happen to any of us. Sometimes, we do not realize the unsafe and crazy things that we are doing, until it is too late. I worry, that I could also make such a terrible mistake one day, in the future, without even realizing the severity of my action, until it is too late.

That is the saddest thing I have heard. That mom must be devastated. That only shows it only takes a moment or two for something to happen to a child. You know that was the last thing that would have crossed the moms mind. How was she to know something like that could happen. I'm sure she never thought that something like this could happen to her. That poor family. I didn't see it but I don't hardly watch television at all. I will keep this poor women in my prayers and hope that God helps her heal from the shock of her child dieing.

It is amazing how something like this seems to be happening more and more. Parents leaving little children in their car for according to them no more than a minute but the consequences will haunt them for a lifetime. I have a daughter, I don't leave anything to chance. I make sure that she is safe at all times. My heart goes out to the mother, though, I cannot fathom how she must feel right now!
