Maybe I should say, probably works. In any event it is quite obvious that myLot is driven by advertisements. MyLot gets payed on two bases: 1) by the number of visitors that see a specific advertisements (called "impressions") and 2) the number of clicks a specific advertisement recieves (called "click throughs"). Now , the one way to improve impressions is to increase the amount of traffic to ones site. This is traditionally done by increasing the number of people that see your site using a search engine, such as Google or Yahoo. To improve your visibility on a search engine you need to have relevant content. What myLot, and probably others, has done is to find cheap labor to produce mass amounts of content. When people find out that certain topics receive higher pay than others than they continue to post discussions on these topics. I saw a discussion on here about trying to figure out what the myLot algorithm is. I'm under the impression that there isn't really an intricate algorithm. I believe they pay based on the kind of advertisements that a user's discussion generates. That, and maybe the amount of content they produce. The interesting part is that they have focused on encouraging lots of posting, but haven't really focused at all on posting content that would generate higher revenue per click. I might try a few experiments in this. I would love to say more, and I know I am kind of all over the place here, but if I were to organize my thoughts this would be an essay. Anyway, has anyone seen anything that might corroborate my theories?
