Is it because todays youth is more independet,or ignorance or over exposure or parents becoming more linent, or society becoming more open to these aspects??and how is it effecting the present society? What is your opinion and do you think is the cause of such growing numbers mainly in advanced countries?

I think a lot of it is ignorance and false independance. Most of the kids that I knew growing up that got pregnant in high school knew it was possible, but didn't believe it could happen to them, or they thought minimal protection would get them through. A lot of them had good relationships with their families, but they didn't talk openly with their parents because they were afraid, so when it came time for education on sexuality, there was no one to talk to.
I think we're going to wind up with a generation of really strong kids who grew up with parents who were too young, so they relied quite heavily on other adult figures as their role models. I'd like to believe it is a positive thing, but it's hard to tell.

I think that early pregnancies are due to part ignorance and partly just the teen's fault. They hear about the chance of getting pregnant but they think that it could never happen to them because they're so "careful". Careful isn't enough though.
Also it's peer pressure now that I think about it. Either the boy is pressuring them or the people in their circle. The only way to be "cool" is to lose your virginity and it could only take that one time.

I think growing affluence amongst the young in western countries has seen an increase in younger child birth. I feel it would be interesting to carry out a cross cultural study to determine the legitimacy of the idea that this is a wealthy world phenomina only
