Who is your favourite Celebrity Chef and
do you use any recipes of theirs?
My Favoutite is Jamie Oliver
And this recipe of his will make...
20 Chocolate Brownies...
• 250g unsalted butter
• 200g dark Fairtrade chocolate
(70% cocoa solids), broken up
• optional: 75g dried sour cherries
• optional: 50g chopped nuts
• 80g cocoa powder, sifted
• 65g plain flour, sifted
• 1 teaspoon baking powder
• 360g caster sugar
• 4 large free-range or organic eggs
• optional: zest of 1 orange
• optional: 250ml crème fraîche
Preheat your oven to 180°C/350°F/gas 4.
Line a 25cm square baking tin with greaseproof paper.
In a large bowl over some simmering water, melt the butter and the chocolate and mix until smooth.
Add the cherries and nuts, if you’re using them,
and stir together.
In a separate bowl, mix together the cocoa powder, flour, baking powder and sugar, then add this to the chocolate, cherry and nut mixture.
Stir together well.
Beat the eggs and mix in until you have a silky consistency.
Pour your brownie mix into the baking tray,
and place in the oven for around 25 minutes.
You don’t want to overcook them so, unlike cakes,
you don’t want a skewer to come out all clean.
The brownies should be slightly springy on the outside
but still gooey in the middle.
Allow to cool in the tray, then carefully transfer to a large chopping board and cut into chunky squares.
These make a fantastic dessert served with a dollop of crème fraîche mixed with some orange zest.

I'd never really been one for watching cookery programmes .. too much arty farty food, miniature portions piled up in the middle of a huge white plate .. streuth give me baked beans on toast any day ..
Then one Saturday morning I sat and watched James Martin in the Saturday Kitchen cookery show .. brilliant .. really good food simply cooked and done right in front of you .. no special gadgets needed no special skills .. and all easy to find ingredients ..
James Martin is very good at describing how to make the recipes and keeps it all nice and simple .. I have done quite a few of the recipes they show .. I'd recommend it as the best cookery programme I have ever seen ..
I haven't bought one of his books yet .. but when I see one I shall certainly be checking it out ..

I have 3 absolute faves. Rachael Ray, Emeril and Sandra Lee (food network, Semi-Homemade). What I love most about Sandra Lee is that she creates EVERYTHING from store bought foods to make shortcuts. It's great and much more realistic for us busy mums! Here's a great recipe that is so delish and a great way to zest up taters!
Buttermilk Mashed Potatoes
4 pounds white creamer potatoes
1 tablespoon garlic salt
1 1/2 cups buttermilk
4 tablespoons butter
2 tablespoons fresh or dried chives
2 tablespoons alfredo sauce mix (recommended: McCormick)
Salt and pepper
In a large pot cover potatoes with cold water by 1-inch. Add garlic salt and bring to a boil over high heat. Lower temperature and simmer until tender.
While potatoes are simmering, pour buttermilk in a saucepan and add butter. Bring to a simmer. Add chives and alfredo sauce mix. Remove from heat and set aside.
Drain potatoes and return to the pot. Using a potato masher coarsely mash the potatoes until smooth. Slowly add the buttermilk mixture and mix until creamy. Season with salt and pepper, to taste.

i love nigella lawson. most of her stuff is easy and always good. another good one is ina garten -- whenever i am throwing a party i use her recipes because most are make-ahead. her shirred eggs are fantastic!
i've made that brownie recipe, but i did it with dulce de leche ice cream on top instead (i'm american, we love sugary sweet treats)

I'm a fan of Rachael Ray. I've made her Thanksgiving in 60 and it was delicious!
I also enjoy Anthony Bourdain. I regularly watch "No Reservations" and I've read his books - "Kitchen Confidential", "The Nasty Bits", and "A Cook's Tour".
I also enjoy Paula Deen, Gordon Ramsey, Michael Chiarello, and Giada DiLaurentis.

I like watching celebrity chef Rachel Ray. Her recipies are easy to make. She does a show called 30 min meal, that one I like most. Those recipes are very easy going and quick. I also like her personality.

My all time favorite is Gordon Ramsay. I absolutely LOVE Hells Kitchen.
A lot of people I know don't like him, but for my partner and myself, we like the way he's always striving for perfection.
Food should be a great experience and the palate has every right to expect to be tantalized with new and exciting creations.
Gordon Ramsay is one of the few chefs I've seen that's always pushing his lackeys to do more, it's a great learning experience.

Both have there own unique way of making mouth watering recipes, and i've always though about doing some but have yet you get round to doing them. At the moment i stick to watching either of them on the tv and seeing what they knock up for people.....wish i could cook like them :)

Well I am not sure that you got the same celebrity chefs in the UK than in the US btu my favorite is Paula Dean ... I love watching her show on the Food network ...
But I tend to watch the shows in general just to grab ideas because I like "inventing" recipes ... mostly I adapt the recipes for dessert or cakes and I have sometimes came up with something completly new and different ... I love one-pan meals ... I love cooking
Soon I pln to put some of my recipes on my website
By the way, I think I wil have to try your recipe - or his LOL - it looks very yummyyy
Thank you

I absolutely adore Jamie Oliver, he is so inventive and entertaining to watch. And his food looks absolutely devine.
Although I've never made anything from a celeberity chef, Jamie Oliver is one I would certainly pick as the one to copy. One day I will buy one of his books and try quite alot of his recipes.
I might even try the brownies that you posted.
