charges

Does it seem to other people that referees call way to many charges. Shouldn't basketball ball be about who could put the ball in the basket instead of who can plant their feet first?

I do think the referees in basketball call too many charges. Many of those charges should have been either no calls or a defensive foul on the defending player. I like the high scoring games more than the defensive games or ones with a ton of fouls being called.
