A good way to do it is to turn the whole image black and white. And then add additional layers on top of the background layer. Set the additional layers to the mode "Color Dodge" and then color. So if you need to color your hair a different color, use the brush and on the new layer color it say, brown, and then set it to color dodge and it should work. That's just one way of doing it--the most common way, but there are definitely tons of other ways to do it. You just have to be more experienced at photoshop in order to figure out other original ways of doing it.

I like to change the colors of hairs, selecting the hair and then going to Adjust/Hue/Saturation, put colorize and change until reach a good color.

Hi mamatika, you need to take the MAGIC WAND TOOL (w), you choice the place you want, if you want two places, press and hold SHIFT, and latet press CTRL + U, activate the COLORIZE mode, and change the numbers till the color you want.

To change the hair color select the hair with lasso tool and then use Hue/Saturation option from Image-Adjustment menu. To change dress select the portion you want to change with lasso tool and then replace it by deleting and then place new dress there.
