Do you really trust your co workers? Do you consider them to be friends? I ask this question as I have known a couple of co workers for a couple of years and always thought of them as friends. I have now found out that they are totally lying to me about a number issues with regard to work and my future in the compnay. I have helped them out with so many things and they have always relied on me and my support for a long time. I feel now that I should never trust co workers and just consider people in the future as just people I work with and never as friends.

Trust is one thing that you lose once can't get it back.I agree with your viewpoint but at the same time because of few people we stop trusting all, that is also not fair. What i mean to say is we should not generalise on bad aspects.take into account the times those have helped you .you will feel much better.

With friends I trust them totally and will tell them everything. But in the last few years, co workers seem to have changed from people that you can trust to people that you can't. It seems to be connected (in UK) to the constant worry that we have with our jobs being outsourced, restructured...... we have very little security at work these days and work relationships seem to have changed due to this.
