I knew Martin had won when I saw Francis,Gerge, and Steven were to give out the Oscar.The Academy seem to give out hints. Remember when Chicago won best picture? Kirk and Michael Douglas gave out the award.I knew that Chicago had won the moment i saw them.Why else would the husband and father-in-law give out the Oscar? Then there was the year Sophia Loren gave Roberto Benigni the best actor award for Life Is Beautiful.Sophia not only is she Italian, she is the first best Actress to win for a foreign film, Two Women. And Roberto is the first actor to win for a foreign film.Now thinking about it, I should have known The Departed had won best picture when I saw Jack Nicholson back stage holding a envelope.

well deserved, long overdue recognition for Martin Scorsee. I don't think it was a surprise, really. It would have been an outrage if he did not receive the Oscar this year.

Fantastic, he really deserved it and finally he won his oswar with to me indeed the best movie of the year, the departed is fantastic!!

I didn't bother to watch, so I didn't find out til this morning. Glad he finally got one. He has so many great movies under his belt that I can't understand why he never won before. Maybe the judges were feeling guilty over the years of neglect.
