Someone once asked me that if I had to choose wheather to lose my sight or to lose my ability to hear which would it be? I think that is such a thought provoking question.
I'm so grateful to have the ability to use all my senses, but if I had to choose I would loose my hearing. Number one because through sign language you can still communicate. And number two, I can't bear the thought of never being able to see my children's faces.
What would you choose?

My mother is blind. She went blind after having a brain tumour about 15 years ago, which resulted in the tumour squashing her optic nerve. Scarring has reduced her vision to recongising shadows. She often gets my brothers mixed up unless they speak.
One of the things she used to say frequently was she would rather have lost a leg, gone deaf, lost her sense of smell... anything, other than being blind.
Certainly, after seeing how my mother's life has changed so dramatically these last several years has taught me to truly appreciate being blessed with sight.
Given the two options, being deaf is the preferable option!

i'd definatly rather be deaf than blind. I can't imagine not seeing the world and living in the dark, that scares me! There's so many beautiful things to see. It would stink to be deaf too, never being able to hear great music or the sound of your child's laugh, but it's not *as* bad as not being able to see to me.
