I guess it is more important for employers to know first your goals and aim, of why you applied for the job. Meaning, you can always give them your positive view about the company's reputations and that you would be more glad to be a part of their team. Here is where you have every right, and perhaps an obligation, to toot your own horn and be a bit egotistical. You can mention specifics from your resume or list of career accomplishments, your skills and interests, combined with this history of getting results, make you valuable.
Salaries can be taken cared of when they gave you the schedule for their job orientation.

I guess it would be gaining competitive work experience over amount of salary. Salary shouldnt be mentioned especially when it's not being asked by the HR? Salary negotiations should only be discussed when you are already on the verge of accepting the job. Morever, as an additional point you should tell the interviewer that you would be an added contribution because of the qualities you possess which could help their organization.
