Lizards. Yucks!!

I don't know why but lizards seem to favor my house. I have tried to do research but there seems to be very little information concerning how to get rid of them. The closest I come to was scattering egg shells (equally yucky!). So... any ideas out there?

Oh my i think lizards are so cute lol. I am not a fan of cochroaches though, they suck big time in my book. It must be a lovely place for lizards to want to come and park at your home lol. Have fun but i don't know how to help you get rid of them.

No no no, I refuse to agree that lizards are cute. :P
They like to suddenly appear and dash across the place and jolt you suddenly. Rude and unfriendly to me. :PP

I also have those little creatures in my house too. Wonder where they come from. One cure I can give you is to buy this something that looks like 2 pads with very sticky thing inside. I think it has a picture of rat in there. I'm not very sure about it. It was suppose to kill the other creatures here that started putting a house of their own. But instead, the lizards was the one who was sticked up in those pads. Try it. Its very effective.

For the case of lizards - since they are supposedly kind enough to eat up the mosquitoes which I absolutely hate - I want them to disappear from my house without having to kill them.
When I see them, I just... let live - unlike bugs, flies, mosquitoes, roaches, etc - I KILL them on sight.
So these "friendly" lizs have been squatting without approved passports and I really wish to deport them. Who can help? :P

In some cultures the lizard is considered good luck if it enters your house. I have had a few smal ones come in when it was extremely hot outside, I assume they were looking for a place to cool off. They didn't do anything, just found a spot on the inside wall, hung out for a while then left.

Really? That is interesting... I never heard before about lizs being creatures representing good luck.
I have heard about sparrows though and they visit my house (kitchen) frequent enough but we never struck lottery or anything. At least not yet. :P

I am not sure if it really worked. But one of my friends purchased an ultra sound device the sound of which is very allergic to lizards so they never are there in her house. She says there is a substantial decrease in the number. Well i wouldnt believe it till i will find no insects at all in her house.

Hmm.. ultrasound device for lizards? I have one at home for mosquitoes though I don't find it working too well. *arrgh..*
But the next time I visit the mart, I am gonna check if they have such a device I can use. Thanks for the suggestion!

I love lizards and salamandars. They're just really cool to me. I don't know how to get rid of them, although they usually run when I try to pick them up.
What I would like to know is - where did you get that picture??? It looks EXACTLY like a picture that I have that I took in Jamaica last December...

We have lots and lots of Gecko's in our area. Now they mostly stay out of the house but we also have a lot of cats. The cats do like to play with them and they don't last very long then. I happen to like having htem because they eat up the nasty bugs including Palmetto bugs, ugh I hate those things. They are far worse then the lizards trust me. Picture a cockroach bigger then your thumb and they can fly. They are very much a part of the south in the States especially Florida. The Gecko's eat them so I like having those around. I would suggest to keep them out of the house is get a few cats. They will get the message.

Yes, I do like them because they help to munch up other pests but I don't like their presence still. :P

wow, this is interesting. I have no idea how to get rid of them, but I just had to comment because I never heard of someone having a lizard problem. Where I live there are no wild lizards, and very few people even have them as pets in their home. I guess you learn all kinds of new things on here. This is really interesting. The worst things here to try and get rid of are things like mice, racoons, opposums, rodents in general.

I don't know if you can get rid of them, we have several that live around our front porch. Our thought is since we can't do anything about them and they don't bother anyone we'll just name them. So we did and we talk to them when we see them. We have Toby, Ozzie, and Harriet, we can't usually tell them apart so we just call them any one of the names. It make it a game, that way they don't bother us. Good luck with yours.

Oh boy, I'll never name them - though I do recognise them. :P
Naming them seems to give the idea that I want them to stay - which is a definitely no! :PP

You have to change your mind about lizards. They are clean and so cute and they eat mossies and other bugs, this last duty alone is worth a share in your home and your bank account...lol.
I lived in Changi for a while and the most lizards we counted at one time in the loungeroom was 18. They were quite harmless. In our house at Seletar Hills there were none!
Living in Queensland (Australia) we would find a few outdoors but under cover and where I am now in outback NSW I find the occasional one also outdoors. I LOVE them.
If you can overcome your dislike of them they will cease to be a problem.
Perhaps psychological therapy or hypnosis will help you. :P

Lizard infestation yes sir that is a major problem which is not so difficult to resolve. The lizards are entering your home because they have food there. That as you have mentioned would most probably mean mosquitoes. What you need to do is take care of the food and the lizards will go away on their own. They normally are found where one has insects, cockroaches and grasshoppers are their favourite food. I had that kind of a problem, once I took care of the cockroaches, the lizard problem has disappeared

I get quite a lot of lizards in my house too! I quite like them because they're cute and because I hate being alone in the house. My mum doesn't like them because they leave their droppings on the walls but I think that just means they've been doing their work protecting us from mosquitoes and flies. Besides, it's not very noticeable.
Haha I never knew you could get rid of lizards by scattering egg shells O.o the only solution I have would be to completely insect-proof your house, since lizards eat insects. Sounds expensive though. My sister's friend used to catch lizards, put them in plastic sandwich bags and staple them _

My cats would LOVE to live at your house then .. when I lived in Florida near the Gulf of Mexico there was tons that would come in my patio and garden, they would love to sit out there and look for them, they always killed them, but not until they had played with them for awhile.

how cool to have lizards in your home! they will eat all the nasty bugs up for you. I would rather have a lizard than bugs and beetles! chickens will eat lizards, but you may find them being in the house a bit more troublesome (they have stinkier and bigger ploops)

I just found this discussion and I thought it was funny only because we have no lizards where we live so I can't imagine what it's like to live in a place where they can get into your house. I'm not sure why, but they hate eggshells, but if that doesn't work, you can buy the sticky pads used to catch mice. They work equally well on lizards I have heard. If the problem continues you can always change your name to Lordwarlizard!

I don't like lizards. Yeech. They look cold and slimy, and I'm sure they are cold if not slimy. reptile family right?
I don't kill them because I don't want to touch them. the mosquito killing part is secondary.
I especially don't like it *screams* when they dart across your feet or hand. No physical contact, please. But i guess they must be trying their best to avoid humans too. they always dart out of sight. just so happens that contact is made when quick movements are made by both parties.
They seem to like hiding in the corner of my front door grill, giving me a jolt when I open the grill. actually I think i must have given them a jolt too - innocent lizzy having a nap then suddenly, cling clang clunk!
As for a solution, I dunno. Pest exterminators? Thinking 'over the hedge' here.

Oh...i like lizards if they are up there in the ceiling. I don't mind them at all as long as they don't jump on me..LOL..They said they are the closest creature to God so you must not kill them. Just try to ignore them. ;)
