How quickly is it possible to learn another language and what is the best way? Say I want to learn Dutch or Japanese or something using the internet for free, is this possible? I would need to hear the spoken language so I know my pronunciation is correct. Have any of you done a course online, preferably a free one?

no, not the extensive ones. I just visit sites and listen to some basic pronunciations. As for learning another language, I suggest you go to Japan and meet some Japanese you can talk to. But if you can't, just buy books, tapes and movies. This will ensure much more desirable results, than studying in the sites. that's good when you have already some basic knowledge of the language.

i mean the sites are good when you already have a grasp of the language.

I see what you mean Jackie. My Spanish and French are ok and I can learn new words from websites and movies. As for going to Japan..... I am not that rich!!! :-)
