I have had a really bad cough and sore throat since last Wednesday. I work overnights so am getting run down and unable to fight things as well as I used to. I am trying to get into the doctor but on Mondays it can take 3 hours just to get a call to go through. Any remedies anyone can suggest so that I can get some sleep today for work tonight? All ideas are appreciated.

when I suffer from cold I have to take antibiotics for a week and more. Without this I could not recover from cold. But now I hardly gets cold. I am immune to cold as I nowadays used to take "Dawarchawanparas". It is found in the market of Nepal and India and best way to protect us from cold.
You need to take spoonful of chawanparas twice a day.

I always use 'Thera Flu' or 'Niquil' and have had really good results with them except the Niquil makes me a little groggy. Oh and Chloraseptic spray is a Wonder!! I even use it on burns and cuts!

Hi. You are more than likely over this soar throat and caugh long befor now. But I wnated to let you know about a good home remedy for caugh ans soar throats, It is horehound herb. I make a tea of it. By coverking the bottom of a coffee mug with honey and then a good splash of lemon juice. Then I add hot water and the herb horehound. You can get it in bags or loose at a health food store. Let it steep for a while and drink befor it get too cold. It will taste terrible at first but it can grow on you.

Thanks for the inforamtion. I will have to try this the next time I have a sore throat and cough. I hate to be sick and this year has just kind of stunk for me. I got a sinus infection that lasted for over a month and only after 3 different doctors visits and 3 different antibiotics did it go away.

since different countries sell different products, your best bet is to ask your pharmacist. Based on the symptoms you have, he or she is the one that can guide you to the best product.

Thank you for the advice. Between the pharmacy and the doctor I got everything taken care of. I have been having some very bad luck this year with sinus infections. I can't seem to avoid them or get rid of them.

There is of course no remedy for a cold, but there are things that will soothe a sore throat, stop a runny nose and generally ease all the symptoms.
A Chinese doctor gave me this treatment a number of years ago. I myself haven't had a cold for over 40 years, but I know many people who ALWAYS use this and say it is marvellous:
Almost fill a mug with Coca Cola.
Add a heaped spoonful of freshly minced ginger.
Microwave for two minutes.
Drink hot.
In Australia you can buy bottles of Continental Brand minced ginger, which is much easier than mincing fresh. Do NOT use ground ginger.

Thank you. This is another thing to try out. I have not been as sick as I am this year for quite a while. Of course I went back to school and work nights so I figure with all the added stress I will be more likely to get sick.

The hot tea won't be a problem. At work I will tend to drink a lot of hot tea. I had a feeling I was giong to have to see a doctor to get rid of this. I just hope I can get in this morning to see one of our doctors. I have to fly to Virginia in two weeks and really want to feel better by then. Thanks for the advice.

I am taking more Vitamin c now and trying to drink more water. I have always had trouble drinking plain water though so this is quite difficult for me.
