So apparently, Jennifer Hudson, after receiving an Oscar for Best Supporting Actress for her role in Dreamgirls, said, 'This just shows what God can do'.
And what is that, Jennifer? It shows that God can make someone really annoying? It shows that God can not prevent people from being unoriginal and obnoxious?
Because of COURSE God would take an interest in the Oscars. Of course there is a profound theological purpose in not letting Cate Blanchett or Abigail Breslin win.
Yeah, Abigail Breslin. How about that, Jennifer? God just destroyed a little girl's dream. Is THAT what God can do? I bet he kicks puppies too.
The great thing about it is that we can all stop lauding Hudson's performance; she doesn't have any talent herself, it's all God. So we can focus on people who achieve things through their ability and hard work, not those lazy slackers who ride on God's coattails like Jennifer Hudson.

Wow this is a pretty intense reaction to a simple comment. I m not into the whole god thing but whatst the big deal if she wants to thank god? She also thanked her grandmother...

I often react intensely to simple comments. Once someone told me they liked last week's Grey's Anatomy, and I killed them with a corkscrew.

Interesting opinion. I disagree, but then that's why we have this platform. We can voice our opinions how we choose. I thought she was very deserving. Not that the others were not- but someone has to win. The actors know this is a competitive industry. I believe they have a mutual respect for each other as artists. I believe that Abigail will live to see another Oscar winning opportunity. Some artists wait 20 years or more to be recognized for their talents. It's the nature of the industry.
God provides the talent- the will, the opportunities, I think in Jennifer's acceptance speech her reference to "Look what God can do" had more to do with her drive and her will to succeed. "look what happens if you have someone you believe in", was more her thought, Not that God gave her an Oscar.
I thibk the whole show was long and a bit on the boring side, I think other than a few majoar awards it could all be done in 1 hour. LOL.

Ah, I see. Forgive me, I was only going on what she actually said. Apparently you know what she REALLY meant, and what she REALLY meant wasn't what she actually said. Your psychic powers are impressive, master.
I'm not sure who's a bigger moron: someone who says "Look what God can do" and doesn't mean it, or someone who says it and does.
