Thanks for starting good topic here. We too used to go outside to enjoy weekend i.e. Sunday and come back in the evening hour only. I still remember that day, when we, mom, dad, sis used to go to outside to celebrate small picnic. Every sunday the place used to be different. Only in rainy season we discontinued this. During festival, our few relatives used to celebrate festival, we too had to visit them. Watching of movies at that time was twice in a month only. Now the DVD, Disc has taken place so movies are available at home. We can watch movies as per our demand also. I will follow the same after I get married. I am now far from my parent due to job, so I enjoy alone.

When I was a little girl, family day was always on a Sunday. My mother would often work on a Sunday but we would still make a point to do something once she got home. Often we would go up to the lake, pick up Mcdonalds take-out and we would eat it at this park which overlooks the water. It was really nice and I can still remember so many details of those times even though it's been like 10 years.

Well every day is family day for me. I guess meeting up with the rest of my family happens once every special occasions. Although those who are important to me live right near to me, except my grandmother and I wish i could see her more. I do thing still with my parents nearly every day. I'm hoping I can do this when I move out, as my little boy could learn a lot from being around them. Unlike my wife family. =) ~Joey (don't worry my wife don't get on with them either)

That is good at least you have your own way on how you will bring up the closeness of your child to your parent's one day even though your wife don't get along w/ them..It is a story that is repeated to all married couple ..daughter in law never get on w/ mother/father in laws.Wish you good luck and thanks for sharing your views.

My parents too declared Sunday as our family day when I was a child back then. Like you after we gone to church, we used to eat what my mother specialty for that day. Right now in my own family, I try to practice it but not every Sunday, only when we have budget for it. What I make it sure every weekend is to have my family beside me and with or without special food, we share special moments being together.

No, we rarely saw family when I was growing up or had gatherings unless it was a special occasion or a reunion. Today, I rarely see any of my family. I have sisters that I have not seen in 7 years or more. I talk with my brother and mother on the phone once a week or so. But, no. Even for Christmas it was just my family here that I see everyday and no one else. That looks sad now that I have it written out..lol But, that is the way it is with my family.

When i was still young i haven't experience having family time because my mother has her own life. He always goes out with her own set of friends. But my father when he has no work he stays with in the house. Now that i am a parent already i see to it that during weekends i have to spend time with my two daugthers and my husband. We go out even a simple snack will do. Just to enjoy each others company.

we still have a family gathering with our relatives during celebrations.. i really love it during new year's eve.. we normally do a BBQ and all my dad's siblings will gather at our late grandparents' house to celebrate and eat together. now living far away from home, always make me homesick.. i missed my family especially my mum's cooking. i grew up with having every meal together as a family and if we go out for a trip or to go shopping, we will go as a family. it was and still a fun thing for me to do.. cos i'm really close to my family and i even consider my mum as my friend.

Hi, In my country we used to live in huge family like father , grandfather, grand children, brothers, sister etc. Now a days it seems that the family value is getting drooped as too many tiny families are emerging. Now it is reaching a concept that 3 to 4 people is a good family and more than 5 is a huge family. But I still like to be in huge family even though there will be some problems too many people will be there caring each other. I think children will also enjoy their life as they will be getting many company.

I see my parents everyday, and we eat dinner together. Most of the time they're working, so I'm thankful for them being able to get off from work early to have dinner as a family. On weekends once every month or fortmonthly, we still go out as a family to special places like movies and stuff, even though I've really grown up. I'm always thankful for the time that I have to spend with them.
