Good luck charms

Do you believe in good luck charms? Do you wear them or keep them with you in the hope that they can protect or help you become more successful?
It may be in the form of a cross pendant if you are a Christian. It may be an amulet your aunt brought you from Japan. It may be just some non-religious lucky stone that is supposedly beneficial to your star signs.
Do share some stories if you have of how they have worked or not worked for you.

Hmmm...before I give you my response here, there is something I like to share with you. Recently, there is a game show here in our country called "Deal or No deal." I don't know if you're familiar or ever heard of this show. Anyway, there's this chinese contestant who joined the contest and won $40,000. He revealed that he always wore this secret amulet. He even showed to the viewers the amulet. Its a pink crystal with a red string tied around his neck. After that show, I confessed that I began looking around for a crystal for myself. But until now, I haven't found one to my liking. I can't say if I believe that crystal can have a powerful effects on our lives. I thought to myself why not give it a try. I'm always never afraid to take the risk.

True, its still your choice if you want to avail yourself one or not. I am still looking for one that will have this effect on me. You know what I mean? I went from one shop to another but I felt no sense of connection with all the crystal I saw.

Yes, why not? :P
For that man, only God knows if the effect of the pink crystal is true.. but even if it isn't true, it may be that it helped inevitably to amplify his own belief in himself, and thus boost his self-confidence too.

Check out this site www.fengshuibestbuy.com . I have bought from there on several occasions and the items are reasonably priced enough. You can email them to ask questions too and replies are quite prompt. But don't expect them to bend their back and answer you sweet like you think a customer deserves. They don't do that, much to my irk! :P

Funny you should bring this up. My co-worker and I were just discussing luck and superstition. We were thinking about buying lottery tickets since there is a very large jackpot this week. We both have pretty bad luck and were hoping that we would cancel each other out :-)
I don't really have a good luck charm that I always wear or keep with me. But I have done some research on different natural gem stones and crystals, and what their properties are supposed to be. Green adventurine is suppoed to bring luck and money. I carried a little with me on a recent trip to Las Vegas...but I never won any of the games I played. So maybe my bad luck is stronger than the stone? Or maybe I just needed to carry a boulder with me, rather than a pocket sized stone.
I do have one pendant I wear whenever I travel. It's a made from a special stone from New Zealand called Pounamu (or sometimes New Zeland Jade-though it is different from traditional jade). It's supposed to help with safe travel, especially over water.

Haha, when you mentioned the bad luck cancelling out part, I almost fell off my chair laughing. :P
And no way, man, about the boulder. If you need a huge rock of crystal for good luck, you need the casino to relocate to your house!
This Pounamu is interesting, first time I came across it.
I guess you need to be at least a little superstitious to be wearing a lucky charm by choice!

Good morning Lordwarwizard,
My Mother passed to me a little pendant piece that has belonged to my mother's ancestors for many generations.
It is a small gold & blown glass heart-shaped globe that contains the six Irish symbols of good luck. Many of my ancestors believed in the good fortune endowed by those symbols or items contanied within the glass.
Who am I to argue? I wear it with pride.

I actually dont believe in any good luck charms but i do wear one because my mother insists that i wear one. My mother is very traditional and cultural and believes in all these while i dont believe. She sends me one amulet every year which she brings from some person she trusted for many years and i have to wear it around my arm. I need to dispose off the amulet of the previous year. This has become a routine for me every year.

Have you tried to take strength in your amulet when you are facing problems?
The next time you face any difficulty, see if it will help. :)

I don't know Wiz, having things like this seems a bit extreme for me. I understand that there are several of us out there who believe in this stuff. Not to take away or destroy what other believe to be true. I've never used something like a luck charm to bring me luck. Luck always seem to come my way. I've never asked for it but, it's always nice to have something good around. I guess that's why there are others that believe that good things comes to those who wait. "If you build it, they will come". Wishful thinking is what every chooses to have. Now that I think of it, I guess that's like saying I've contradicted myself... because I believe in god, and they have a lucky charm. I guess having a lucky charm isn't so bad after all. Thanks for your discussion Wiz... it really opened my mind!

I have never really believed in lucky charms as I seem to have no luck at all. I have tried using charms but never had anything good happen to me. I have tried the four leaf clover and rabbits foot but nothing happened as a result of it so I gave them away. I know other people who seem to have good luck when they bring a particular item or person with them.

I had a look at the feng-shui link, which is a philosophy I´m quite interested in, but I must admit that there´s no way I´ll buy the piglet figurines that are so cutely displayed on the home page.
I´ve been wearing a ring my mother bought me, that´s supposed to protect you and bring you luck. I don´t firmly believe in it, but I get this strange negative feeling every time I take it off, so it´s part of my finger now. Maybe it´s actually been protecting me without me knowing about it.

Stay with the ring then, dana. ;)
I don't really believe in displaying pigs either but they have others things that might be of interest. Anyway, just shrug it off if it is of no interest to you. I don't even know the owner(s) personally and they are certainly not paying me anything for recommending people their site! :P

I don't believe in good luck charms. I believe in fate, and God only. So, I don't wear anything like that.

I don't really use good luck charms but oddly enough have found loads of 4 leaf clovers over the years. I used to keep a couple that I had pressed and dried in a little frame but since I moved here a few years ago I havn't a clue where it is. The others I had pressed and kept in a book between the pages but again I don't know where that is either. I guess I thought I should win the pools with all those 4 leaf clovers but I havn't yet.

You might not have realised it but the clovers might have been keeping you safe over the years!
I think you have been very lucky already to find those leaf clovers. :)

I do not put any confidence in "good luck charms" nor do I believe in "Luck"
I do, however, wear sacramentals such as Blessed scapulars and crosses/crucifixes. I believe that prayers can be beneficial to your outcomes or at least provide the graces necessary to contend with bad things around us.
I wear a wedding ring, I do not think it produces "good luck" but it is a reminder and symbol of my vows and devotion to the vocation I have chosen for myself. Good things flow from this but it is not the source that goodness.
augh, I think I am not doing very well in expressing myself.

I believe in god luck charms. I have a special watch that I wear when I fly on airplanes. It is the only time I ever wear it (I have another watch). I consider it to be a good luck charm. It has never let me down yet. The one time I DIDN'T wear it, I missed my flight to PAris. It is the only flight I have ever missed!

I wear a lanyard full of religious symbols, and figurines my way of honoring them, and keeping them with me, and grabbings and holding them for good luck or help when needed... Also on there is the key to my Grandpas house before we changed the locks. I wear the original key to honor my grandparents and for good luck, and Lord willing, Spirit willing, and if all the Lucky spirits are willing, I will be lucky enough to hit it rich enough just to earn enough to keep the house and the property in the family, where it belongs.

I don't wear good luck charms as such, but I do have a few personal things that I carry around with me that have brought me comfort and helped me retain my composure in the past. I don't know if that is just because I have something else to focus on or what, but I really don't see any harm in having a good luck charm, who really knows for sure what else is out there, what other influences there are in our lives, if it makes you happy and contented and doesn't impact on other people then I say go for it.

I dont have the habit of keeping any good luck charms with myself whereever i go..as i dont have belief that it will bring luck to me..but certainly will not discourage those people who posses certain items with them for good wishes..i have seen many of my friends keeping gods picture in small sized photos in their geometry boxes while writing exams and some keep pictures in their wallet while going out of home..its just a belief and its not going to harm anyone..

I beleive in my good luck charm, i take it very seriusly, and my good luck charm is my locket that is given by my parents and it is working for me , i do not beleive in four patel leaf or like anything. i beleive in GOD and the blessings of my parents. and Surely that good luck charm is working for me good.
