What are your ghostly encounters?

Have you had an encounter with a ghost? I would love to hear about it. Did you ever see a ghost who wasn't someone you had known or been close to? Or was it in the form of a goodbye from a loved one? Or a warning from a loved one who had passed on? How did you feel when it happened? Did you feel differently afterwards?

Well, there is this old cement quarry in my hometown. In high school we were told it was haunted by injured workers. Then one day, the city decided to use the basic structure of the cement factory to turn it into a shopping center. Well, at the time I needed a job and I went and applied the movie theatre they were constructing. The theatre was actually bbuilt by using the same metal frame from the old main building of the factory. All my friends told me that it was haunted and I shouldn't work there but I just shrugged it off. Well, one night there was a terrible storm and we had a full house. at one point in time the power went out and I was ordered to go upstairs to check on the patrons in the 2nd floor theatres. As I was walking down the hall, I saw something...or should I say someone. It was a man dressed in old mining gear. With a shaky voice I asked him to please return to his seat. With that he turned away and walked through the wall. I was so terrified that I quit that night. I try to stay away from that theatre whenever possible.

Wow, that was a great story. Yeah, it sounds like the real thing. That you asked him to return to his seat tells the that while you were seeing him, it felt natural. this is something I've heard (and experienced) in ghostly encounters. the fear comes when it is ending( the encounter)-it is very unnerving, isn't it. And leaves me with so many questions. I appreciate your tale.

I have a couple of small encounters.
The first one was when I had my first daughter, all I could smell in my hospital room was lavender. I searched all my flower arrangements looking for the lavender but I couldn't find it. When my mom came in I asked her to look for it but she said there wasn't any, and wanted to know why I thought there was. I told her all I could smell was lavender in my room, she told me it was my grandmother's favourite purfume. My father's mom had passed away when I was just 3, and my daughter would have been her first great grandchild.
The second was when I was in the labour room with my 3rd daughter, my father in law passed away while I was pregnant. I was lying in the room all alone, and I heard someone sit on the leather chair beside my bed. When my ex-husband came back into the room I told him his father was there to visit. He didn't really believe me, but I know he was there.

Isn't it beautiful to know your family on the other side cares that much. I got a sweet feeling just reading your post. People are hesitant to believe me when I have a message for them, so I know how you felt when your husband didn't believe you. I think. But I felt moved to know you have - and through, your children have such a loving watchful ancestry. something to be grateful for.

The only ghost that I have actually SEEN (rather than felt their presence) was a little boy in my family's kitchen when I was about 12. He wasn't doing anything, he was just standing in the corner of our kitchen looking at me. It scared me and my mother horribly.

Yes, it is very scarey. I think that's because we so believe that it is not possible at all. You mentioned that you have felt presences. I'd like to know more about that. I've seen ghosts for most of my life, and only when they disappear do I realize -then I get scared. Never had scared reactions until that moment. But one day, I was busily painting a wall. I heard someone quietly come into the room. I felt someone there- but not a pleasant someone-like a friend or family member- this felt terrifying. I felt there was someone big and powerful who was ready to hurt me. I could hardly breath. Very slowly and carefully I put down my roller and turned. that there was no one there was even scarier- I should say no one I could see.I hunted around thinking they had hidden themselves. then I felt it leave. I was completely rattled.
