Nowadays it is a common sight to see people talking so loudly using cell phones which makes me wonder whether they really need the use of cell phone to communicate to the other person. Because they other person might be able to hear their voice without the help of cell phones. Most of the people who talk loud are of the older generation. My uncle is one of them. i told him that he was talking loudly in the bus but he said he couldn't hear the other person talking. i tried to tell him that it was a disturbance to others. But he just avoided the issue. I think most people talking loud using cell phones know the problem they are just trying to ignore the issue of disturbance as a whole. They are making the excuse of habit. But shouldn't they change if something is wrong?

yhea i agree wid u. the way the person using the cell fone shouts makes me wonder if the person to whom they are talking to is just standing on the other side of the road! n i hear you on this being pretty much an affliction of the older gen...it gets pretty embarrassing and awkward wen me mum yells into the cell at crowded place...but i take solace in the fact that she's not alone!!! i guess it gets pretty hard wid increasing age...but sometimes i wonder about THAT too when even I can hear the other person clearly through the phone and my mom still insists on shouting into the phone! makes me wonder if its an inbuilt thing!! and i generally avoid talkking 2 her on the phone as i know i'll have to strain every fibre in my vocal chords to get her to hear what i'm saying. but its also fun to listen in to other people's conversations this way to alleviate some of the ennui!

I think those people who used cell phone and talked loudly in public places are hurry tempered guys,or the bosses. lol... They are used to talking in a loud voice to the other people. i met a guy a few days ago on a bus, hetalked to his cell phone so loudly. It seemed to him that there was no other people on the bus. what a good guyhe is.

I don't think all people who talk loud on cell phones are bad tempered or uncaring. They just get themselves preoccupied in their own affairs that they forget about others. Like you I have seen people behaving like they are the only person on the bus particularly when the buses are full of people. They think by talking loud they are getting lot of attraction. They are getting noticed but not in the way they think of. Regards

Usually when people have difficulty hearing what the other person is saying they assume that they are having difficulty too, so they shout. I try not to talk on my phone in public.

When I see the likes of them, I have a mental image of punching them in the mouth all the way to their throats, or burying their cellphones in their mouths. But that's mean.
Instead, I look at them with a curious expression, so they get the impression that I am listening in at them. It gets most people to tone down.^^

Wow you are really angry at these people. But your technique of staring only works with some one who wants to keep his conversation but fails to do it because of habit. There are plenty of people who brags about things loudly on cell phones so others can think they are pretty important people. Talk about common sense.Regards

I talk on my cell phone all the time because it is the only phone I have. I really don't mind that people call me when I am in public. I try to talk quietly to them. If they start saying that they can't hear me I tell them well let me call you back when I get done then.

Something strange here....when I talk my voice is always loud (my husband's bigger problem!!!!)but when I speak at the cell phone at the street I talk very low.Same at home too, when I speak at the phone I talk low and the most time at empty room ,not because I have big secrets but I like privacy,I don't like hear the other peoples phone calls and be heard from others
