Internet explorer history lock

My spouse has been acting a little funny lately, and we've been fighting a bit more too. I recently looked at the history of out computer and saw a few sites on there that I did not think were acceptable to being viewed. After I confronted my spouse and a hugh argument, I went back to check the computer and now the history menu will not open and the entire history has been deleted. My spouse works on computers for a living and has much more knowledge on the how to's then I do so I'm asking for help. Does any one lknow how to un-hide the history in internet explorer? I know that the history has been deleted but how do I un-lock the history tab?
